hi guys been a while!

@dotcurrency: nice moombah vibe going! been tempted to try some myself epic buildup. Think your mix needs more sub and bottom end. drums are nice and crisp. didnt expect the dubstep drop at the end, nice!
@jcroom: good attempt for your first song. keep at it! I like the little incidentals that you have in the mix. good atmosphere. but the bass gets a bit monotonous after a while. consider changing it up a bit. Also you need to add some sort of sub bass to your mix as it seems to be lacking. Theres loads of threads on this forum that should be help you achieve that
@ Living_Tragedy: Nice range of genres for an EP. Really like the first song. mental bass sounds in that. heavy drums as well which is nice! Dunno if its me but the mix seems to be lacking a nice crisp top end. just to add a bit of sparkle to the mix would help greatly!
@ mthrfnk: Defintley seeing an improvement in your stuff man! you seem to churn out tunes so fast. Liking the progression and the melodies. Levels seem good and the side chaining is spot on! The vocals in the middle section seem a bit weird to me, i dont think they are in the same key and it sounds a tad off. Can see this turning out to be a solid tune!

Disclaimer: I am not a skilled producer.

@dotcurrency: I think some elements of the song are overused and become boring. For example there is a bubbly synth over the dutch house portions that I dig but I think you used it for like 64 bars or something without much change in melody or effects even. The dubstep part could use less synced wobbles as this causes the same kind of problem, it gets boring and predictable. Maybe sweep the filter across a full bar or so using automation every couple bars to change things up. Also, I think there are some notes in that melody where the bass would be better off dropped an octave. I like how the vocals came out.

@filtersnake: Vocals seem like they're not in beat at times, so does the lead synth you sampled from the original mix. I like some of the general idea of the drop but there is so much shit going on at the same time its like the elements are working against each other instead of with each other. The last bit where the heavy bass comes in for a double wobble I think could use some more attack time or other movement in the sound to make it seem slower.

@jcroom: Bass sounds too close for me, could use reverb. Not enough sub bass underneath. Would like to hear subtle variations in melody, effects, or incidental fx other than risers in the background. The risers are also too noticeable during the drop (loud risers before a drop is fine) and there are no downlifters to complement them. Somethings lacking in the hats, there is too much space between them for my liking. I think either faster hats or a longer sample is in order. Then swing em.

@Living_Tragedy: I love the idea of the first drop but don't like some of the elements. For example the three yois in a row could use some kind of pitch bending. Also, the sound right after that would sound better without the pitch bend at the end. Instead, place a lower note without much glide after the initial note.

I love the second track too (house), but I think the yoi doesn't fit. Maybe it would fit with different effects applied or something. For example the last

The drums in the Moombahton track are outstanding.

I like how the final drop begins, and the sounds you use (except for maybe the screeching sound in the background) but I think a better melody could be used.

@dotcurrency: Nice track, I don't listen that kind of music much though. Like filtersnake said, needs more sub. Even with my headphones wich makes the low end a bit too loud, it was hard to hear those lower sounds. That fuck it? vocal thing might need some eq to make it a bit more clear, dunno if you tried to make it not so clear, but just my opinion.
@filtersnake: HUUUGE kick! Really like it Snare might need some low end more or layered with some crash or something...too thin to me, not bad though. Vocals are nice, especially when theyr running at the back. Nice track overally really wanna hear it when it's ready
@Ocelots Revolver: hmmm...The track sounds ok, but you really need to read and do some mixing. Yet, not worst mixing i've heard here. Not good doing mixing myself either. But everyone must start somewhere..

So....Here's the same track i posted earlier, a bit longer, new basslines. Noticed that earlier bassline was running too high, eq'ing didn't help and since it was bounced, couldn't re-create it anymore.

Did a quick new mixing and slammed limiter, hope this is going to better direction

Ma Za1- I feel like the intro needs to flow better into the drop, then after that it has a solid chug along feel, but it kinda has a lot of stuff going on that doesn't all fit together, I get the impression you come from metal music, correct me, but I do too. Anyways, This has a lot of potential, I'd shelf some of your lows to make room for the kick, your bass isn't leaving room for everything else. I dunno, this one is hard to comment on, good ideas, read the moneyshot thread. don't give up this has potential.

Ocelots Revolver- right away kick is WAYFUCKINGLOUDER than every thing else, You've got a lot of cool stuff going on but like Ma ZA1's tune you need to work on your mixdown quite a bit, I feel like you're trying to attack Dnb from a much more dubstep place, bass wise, and it's cool, you just need to tighten the screws a little bit. your drums need more pop and a lot less low end. keep at it.

Living Tragedy- I feel like because this is an EP I need to tell you something, and please don't be offended, do not release this, you are going to get a LOT better if you keep working on your stuff, this literally sounds like you are just starting, are heavily influenced by several artists which I won't go into, and like you have not yet developed an ear for mixdowns that is key. You have a LOT of potential, Your drums are well done, your ideas are solid, but your basses need work and you too need to read the moneyshot thread, You're going to get better, a lot better, and you will develop your own sound, I promise, but do yourself a favor and go back to the drawing board with this.



Here is a tune I started today, Going a little bit deeper than usual, reminds me of outside, I live in the woods around ohio by a pond, you hear pretty rad stuff at night and I guess that found it's way in, I suggest listening with a heavy sub but all feedback is good. The intro was literally thrown together in five minutes, be critical still though. Enjoy:

Yea, the bass is now my main problem. Can't find the midle level for it, it is always too loud or too quiet..Do you mean i need to shelf down some of the low end of the midbass?
I was earlier just trying to make some nice track (like a year ago or so) but now i'm trying to make good mix instead so the mixing is mostly the thing i'm after here posting to this thread.

Sometimes you need to go into the synth, or save it and go back later when you know more, don't get discouraged man there was a lot of potential there and it'd be a shame to see you dump it based on some negative crit.

Right on, well as I said, your drums are on point, you just need to leave some space for everything but the bass, which should take up space but leave room for everything else.

@ocelot dig it, mix sounds a little flat though. kick is nice and deep as it should be. doesn't really stand out that much to me..guess i just like more experimental dnb.

@filtersnake it seems like you know your way around massive, and the vocal is mixed pretty well. not my kinda tune but your production appears to be on point. intro is a bit lengthy.

@krinj i really like this tune lol, you don't hear synth like that in a more deep dungeon-ish surrounding. you made it work nicely though. give my tune a listen it seems like you know a thing or two about mixing, even pre master/soundcloud your tune is sounding pretty clean.

lemme know how my track sounds. it's really quiet because i haven't applied any serious limiting. also screwed on up @ 1:03 or something one of the snares has no verb lol. honestly i just want to meet up with someone who knows mixing well and have a chat with them, i feel like this would help me the most. forums are slow if you would be interested in helping me out shoot me a pm.

Honestly, man. I need this type of feedback. Thank you. I'll probably release this under this name just to see my friends feedback but I won't be sending it to labels and I'll get a new name and shizz for whenever I get better. I'm kind of interested by which artists you think I'm influenced by just because I didn't realise how obvious I was being. I knew my mixdowns needed some work but that's something I'm gonna have to wait a while to correct. I'mma go read the moneyshot threat everyday now . Thanks for this, honestly. It's a wake up call I needed.

As for your track, the drop is pretty heavy. Sorry, I'm not too good at feedback on this type of dubstep. The intro needs a bit more to it, whether thats another synth or hihats, I don't know, but other than that the only thing I can critique is the mixdown which you know I can't do so, good effort man.

@Living_Tragedy EP Sounds good - but you need to keep working at it, as mentioned. My main thing about your tracks is that they sound a little bass heavy - try and tighten your mixes up to really make them shine. Other than that keep going man!

@jcroom A little borng tbh, the track has some good ideas, but the bass needs work as does the mixing. Try and liven it up a bit.

@dotcurrency Sounding good on the intro - like the vocals. Sounds like some crazy moombahcore man, I like it - just try and tighten up your snare and cymbals. Also work on the stereo width of your track, try and get the main blippy synth punching through, maybe even shift the panning around on bit. As for the dub bit, the bass definitely needs work - it sounds like it's straight out of massive, fatten it up and you'll get a nice sounding track.

@filtersnake Listening to this reminds me to reopen my remix of this. I like it man. The drop was pretty crazy - I'd say work on synth & drum mixing, really get stuff sitting together nciely - the synths are a bit too loud atm. Also, thanks for thinking I'm getting better

@filtersnake Pretty cool man, I'd like to hear the main wubwub bass have a bit more beef and stereo prescence and really try to get the drums punching. Good base of a track, finish it up

@MaZa1 Sounds liek early excision/datsik man. Drums sound good, as does the bass - maybe try some subtle variations on the bass to keep it from sounding reptitive. Nice one man.

Here's my latest track - it's missing the vocals (which actually makes it sound really boring) since somehow my processed vox became corrupted, anyways feedback on the mix and levels would be good. As I said it may seem a little repetitive, but thats because it's missing all the main verse vocals which liven it up.

I actually didn't notice that, I'm producing from earbuds with no other reference than a graphic EQ, it was a synthesis issue actually and fixing that and compressing the sub a few Db seriously loosened up the entire mix and as far as I can tell made the sub hit harder, so thank you a hell of a lot man, I don't think I would have caught that, I'll be reuploading the fixed version in a few, I hope to get your thoughts.

As for your track, I dig it, I feel like the keys are too dry for how wet the rest is, I like your kick, but it doesn't match your hats in terms of sharpness, sidechaining is clean man, really clean, I like this, I feel like your kick needs to be heavier because the rest of your drums are all really high and noisy, your kick is really flat and feels like it's just taking up the spot, I really really love the vocal part, as a matter of fact I would go minimal with this and make that your hook, as the one you've got is great but doesn't sound as inspired to me. Just some suggestions, mix is solid I just feel like you need to either lose some high from the hats or add some to the kick, I dunno how I feel about the very last melody, if it's a cameo to another song on an EP or something, well played, if not I think you should lose it. Good track, lots of great work here, would love an update with the finished track, only problem thus far in my opinion is there's a lot of juxtaposition, like you're trying to make a lot of things you don't think will fit together, or like you've listened to all your parts separately and then put them together later. keep it up man.

In terms of my track, I know what you mean about the piano - I think I need to ease the high EQ a bit. I've alreday replaced my kick, found a much better sample that hits harder. As for the vocals, glad you like, as I said there were meant to be more but somehow Slicex in FL lost how I set up some vocal chops so I need to redo them. Also I'm not sure what you mean about another melody? Thabks for the feedback man, definitely going to try and finish this up today and nail the arrangement.
