In this case a concealed handgun owner saved a kids life and likely more and led to police gaining the upper hand on the situation tho it cost him his life
Now shut the fuck up and quit talking out your ass

i dunno i lived in texas, there are a load of concealed and open carry folks there who regularly train and target practice their weapons,
it's also the home of the largest army base in the states among other things and has a huge military presence
texas is very different from the rest of the usa and i happen to agree with pkay's statement in this case
most other states besides a few, meh

I can't believe loefah makes house now.
Re: 'Ten shot dead' at Batman film premiere in Denver
Yes you are not aware of us and Texas law and procedure nor history regarding concealed carry yet you are speaking as if you do. This is the definition of talking out ones ass
Re: 'Ten shot dead' at Batman film premiere in Denver
No I am not speaking as I do I am merely questioning that a state that has a concealed gun licence results in this guy dying.pkay wrote:Yes you are not aware of us and Texas law and procedure nor history regarding concealed carry yet you are speaking as if you do. That example you posted was a bit shit firstly the guy was in his house so may not have needed a concealed gun licence anyway. Secondly highly trained armed officers were in a gun battle with this fella in the middle of the day and yet they were unable to down him themself.
We're not talking about a dark cinema after a smoke bomb's gone off with shitloads of people in a confined space
Re: 'Ten shot dead' at Batman film premiere in Denver
It's not pointless....figures prove that controlling guns reduces gun related deaths (but not necessarily crime in general). It's just a tragedy that these debates always come up after a drama like this. As I said before, a psycho that wants to do sick stuff like this will always find a way, I agree to thatknell wrote:i didn't even have to log on to DSF today to know that there was going to be a big pointless gun control debate in hereBLAHBLAHJAH wrote: the forum's bizzarre twist at focusing on gun laws rather than the tragedy

If he can't find a similar case, it's a good thing really. I don't think it would have ended any better in any state, texas or not. Or even arizona where you don't need a license/training. Fact is people still would have died, with probably collateral damage if there's zero training/license required.scspkr99 wrote:Lol so you think they are equivalent and I'm talking out of my ass
It's not clear yet what weapons he used, but they don't appear to be assault weapons or else there would have been far more people killed. It's pretty difficult to obtain assault (automatic) weapons because they are heavily regulated.
But re: civilians/training/equipment etc made me think back to that Hollywood shootout where loads of trained officers (easily around 75-100) could not take down 2 guys whom they shot hundreds of times. The weapons used were banned in CA and most other states too. It's the main reason some police now carry assault rifles in their vehicles.

most cops i see don't even look like they could run an obstacle course or 2 miles in under 14 minutes let alone handle a firearm or deal with someone who has some tactical knowledge or discipline when it comes to a plan

Bananas.
didnt hear about it until I was on the way home from work, on my way to see a batman midnight screening tonight.
anyway for anyone who is interested in rage killings and such, I wholeheartedly reccomend Mark Ames' book "Going Postal." Which focuses more on workplace and school shootings (though i suppose we dont know the nature of this yet), but makes an argument saying this sort of thing only really started bigtime during the 80's and the Reagan era. Social argument rather than just "we have too many guns," which obviously has some truth in it but nutters gonna nut.
Here's a good piece he did recently on the Oakland college killings that happened not long back.

That guy is truly fucked up in the head. He died his hair red, claiming he was the Joker. He told police that he bobby trapped his house (who knows if he did, the joker never told batman what he actually did -- he might have a bomb somewhere else).
I don't think more gun control would have solved this situation. If you take guns away from civilians, you're left with guns in the hands of the criminals who get it illegally.

Was down the street from this working on a film crew. Guy from the crew drove into the middle of this, got pulled out of his car by the police and cop kept him under his boot for a good 15 minutes or something... we were like where the fuck is Hank? Jokes. Tragedy, though.wormcode wrote:
Everyone is talking about the downsides to widespread gun ownership, of which there are many, but not the upsides, of which there is some serious significance. It may be that the US's problems (and the world's problems for that matter) are not solvable politically.
Re: 'Ten shot dead' at Batman film premiere in Denver
Yeah that's what I was saying with the whole notoriety/fame thing before. The media wants viewers/readers/ad revenue though, so sensationalism is absolute top priority, even before news. Won't change unless people stop wanting to be entertained every second of the day and attention spans lengthen instead of get shorter.dubfordessert wrote:someone posted this on my fb
