Group One - Ban guns, they're bad.
Group Two - But if more people were armed they could defend themselves.

Repeat argument endlessly until no conclusion is drawn.

Banning guns just leaves guns in the hands of people who got them illegally. Criminals don't follow gun-control laws.

If there a ton of knife-related crimes in the UK, why doesn't everyone just carry around big-ass knives? There has to be some way to put victim and criminal on equal footing.

Really depends on the crime. Most of these shootings seem to always havelegally bought guns

are you stating an opinion or posing a hypothetic situation?

ie which auxiliary verb are you missing from your sentence: is or was?

there isn't that much, but every so often the media whip up a panic about it. this can happen even when knife crime is falling. ppl don't understand statistics: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7514258.stm

self-protection is 1 of the main reasons that some ppl do carry knifes. a significant proportion (sorry: no proper stats to paw) of knife injuries result from ppl having their own knives used against them. knife crimes are mostly robberies using a knife as a threat, not murders; turning a robbery into a knife fight is obviously pretty idiotic.

the victims and criminals often are on equal footing. both are more likely to be from deprived backgrounds, or excluded from school, or members of gangs. the answers are mainly to do with giving young ppl more positive opportunities for what they can do with their lives.

Important side not: Ban guns, illegal guns still used to kill people as usual

So it seems he didn't have kevlar, it was just a normal tactical vest with pockets and such. He used a 12 gauge, .40 Glock, and a .223/5.56 civilian AR-15 probably from Bushmaster. The civilian versions don't have automatic or burst modes.

wouldve loved to see group two attending there. In massive chaos they would aim at the shooter and kill him :') especially when most of the ppl are putting on costumes and shit, throughout the smoke grenade they would identify the target with ease in the moment of heat! Man the whole world should be packing so we would all feel safe and if someone starts shooting his, I'll start shooting mine!
what an argument :/

I dunno wtf is going on in this thread really, but for the people saying it'd be mad difficult to identify the shooter inside the cinema with smoke, surely it wouldn't as it's the guy with a shotgun blasting random people?

Think the guys motives probably originate from the Joker's speech and view on chaos being a form of liberation. Sounds so insane it's sane.

To people talking about drug war/gun war, ie gun control makes no difference. Well I dunno about guns, but I do know that ganja being illegal makes it much more difficult for me to get high sometimes than if I could just stroll down Tesco and get me a Henry. Its not impossible, but it sure is harder, and half the time its so much hassle I just can't be fucked.

the argument of 'if it was illegal people would still have guns' is ridiculous, of course they would but that doesn't mean you should be able to buy them on the high street. basically what kochari said

Yeah? how about the police. One of the main problem with guns in the US is this ridiculous adverse to authority.
the argument of 'if it was illegal people would still have guns' is ridiculous,
Exactly.
self-protection is 1 of the main reasons that some ppl do carry guns. a significant proportion (sorry: no proper stats to paw) of gun deaths result from ppl having their own guns used against them. gun crimes are mostly robberies using a gun as a threat, not murders; turning a running away from a lunatic in a crowded place scenario into a gun fight is obviously pretty idiotic.
Sorry to have to do that to your great post. I don't buy the claim of self protection though - its not deffensive or protecting anything - its an initiative towards violence any way you look at it and it escalates the situation.

@Pkay
and associate shooting a 4 month old as the same evil as shooting a psychotic gunman.
No, I dont equate them on a moral level. However me saying fuck to you is apparently reason enough for me to kill myself :dunce:
Please take a pair of scissors and hold onto them as you stab them in a live toaster. The world does not need another uneducated, hysterical tnuc who can't handle people who look act talk or believe different than them

First off, Im surprised you're not suggesting that I put a gun in the toaster :dunce:

Secondly its beyond ironic reading the last bit when I remember reading your post where you thought white people or whatever - some people were not able to appreciate a form of music because we're not from there. Im all about diversity - thats why I cannot accept that a society is controlled with fear and the opportunist scumbags who go for weapons.

Yeah fair enough, I was just trying to imagine myself in that situation both with and without a gun, but it's ridiculous and since I know shit about guns really that makes whatever I say a bit more defunct.

They are fairly useless and often times can't do anything anyway. They don't really go around patrolling on foot and looking for people causing trouble in most places. I don't even remember the last time I saw a cop haha.
