love it
i like spitting bars and hearing a good spitter doing his ting over dubstep.
Im a bit bias tho. I think its always been a part of dubstep so it wont be going away.

Re: MCs at dubstep nights
We dont have mc's at Square Roots mate, come down some time.reef wrote:So I was at FWD for my first time on Friday and I loved everything about the night except for the MC, which I found highly annoying.
Now obviously that's part of the scene and there's no point in me complaining about it.
Just wondering if there are ever nights on where you just hear the tunes and there's no MC. If so, where?
Ta
there are some good ones about though. some of the grime guys sound sick over dubstep

I think the ban comes in some time next year? They're already trying it out in Scotland and the Galapagos islands where you have to go outside to talk in rhythm and rhyme. Personally I can't stand DJs on dubstep, wish they would shut up and let me order a drink in peace. Peace.reef wrote:But to answer my original question, are there ever nights in London without MCs (and if so any coming up?)? Or am I right in understanding that they're pretty much standard here?
erm ... i've become a bit confused here too.As for abashanti, Shaka etc... what kina element do they bring ? Is that PROPER dub?
I thought Reef meant those "bang bang skeet skeet, i'll shank ur nan" type MC's..
those guys are "proper dub" i.e. dub/roots not dubstep ... i was saying i'd be up for hearing that sort of style of micmanship over dubstep. so not the nan-shanking style, more the deep meditation style. if that doesn't make sense i'll try to dig out an example from a tape somewhere.

I read that as "it doesn't take a brain to figure out pokes and crazy are wicked mcs" i.e. it's a no brainer. So it's a compliment, not a diss... unless I read it wrong.masstronaut wrote:Damn, that's cold. They could be reading man.Vonboyage wrote:Pokes & Crazy are no brainers..
I like mcs that bring something different, like Space ape. Pokes is pure class too, that guy has me cracking up at each dmz.

Think I'll knock into fwd again on friday again and give it another go. Maybe I was a bit quick to judge..
