Have you explored all the possibilities of resampling? Why do you think that it is overrated? Im still not sold on it but I am still learning about it.

The sound that makes Skrillex interesting (who cares about sampling old records, this has been doen to death) is the monster growl on Scary Monsters. This sound is very synthetic sounding. Certainly less resampling involving that some like to think. If the source of the sound is not good the sound will never be good. So the patch on FM8 had to be good as it without FX before the extra FX.

Resampling doesn't have to mean taking snippets from other sources. You can resample
your own bass synthesis to process the soul out of it.

Anyway, all his stuff sounds horrific of course. No need to debate that.

For the people who said he samples his voice into basslines.
i think its completely true.

When the song drops it pitches down growl, then the screech when the snare hits. Then the next growly sound, sounds like it says "Only god can stop me" layered over the bassline.

That's a bit of a stretch. Sounds more like wah wah wahhh wah wahh weee, but I agree that there's more foley going on than most people think.

Haha Skrillex fans getting edgy :) Might actually read the thread then.
The op is actually in prison for having ridiculous opinions (and acting on them)... so yeah it's all subjective.

Did Shrillex go by another alias/name previous to his breakthrough?
he went as sonny moore, and (what only few people know) as twipz, but as twipz and sonny moore he never did heavy stuff, or actual bass in general, only after he started skrillex

He'll probably get that though.

he played guitar then vocals in from first to last, got kicked because he was high all the time, toured solo, had a project with hollywood undead that I don't remember the name, started doing edm using his own name, then skrillex.
