KRK RP5 Problem
the last two days when I've turned my monitors on no audio has come out of the right monitor. the first time I turned it off then on again and it was fine. today I just left it and it came on after a few seconds. obviously there's a slight delay when turning them on but this was prolonged.
any ideas what's causing this? cables maybe? do I even need to worry about it?
thanks

Someone tell me off if I'm wrong here but I'm pretty sure reducing the buffer size has nothing to do with your problem.siperdellyeer wrote:reduce the buffer size
Check your audio interface settings, sometimes I have the same problem... Usually its with both speakers though and its just a settings issue.
If I were you I'd drop by the store where you got them and ask them to help you out.
Re: KRK RP5 Problem
Funny, same thing just happened to me today with my surround sound. Wanted to blast some bass music cause the people who live upstairs were gone, anyways the left and right speakers didn't work, and I couldn't go on with just the center channel and sub. First I checked the setting on the amp and there should have definetly been sounf coming out the the left and rights. Next I plugged the wires from the working center channel into the left side at the speakers, nothing happened. Then I plugged the left speaker wire into the center channel on the amp, still nothing. Tried it again with the center channel wire in the left speaker into the left output on the amp, then in the center channel when that dident work. Speaker must be fucked I thought. Next I took the speaker apart and checked all the connections, I even ohm'ed out the speaker with a meter. It all seemed alright, and connecting the working center channel leads to the individual drivers confirmed this. Put the speaker back together and plugged it all back up and it worked fine after that, which is weird because if there was a loose connection on the left channel I could understand why that now worked, but the right speaker also worked now too and I never did a thing to it.
Alls I'm saying is to try and pinpoint what is the problem, speaker, amp or wire. Logically it should be one of the three, but sometimes shit will just somehow fix itself.

Sounds like the 'hit your battered old tv to make it work again' principle to me...

What baffles me is that at least once a week there's a thread about someone having problems with krk's....so why do people still buy them.. If they have done their homework and most likely seen how many issues people run into with them..

They are probably the top selling monitors, proportionally they probably have the same amount of problems as other monitors in their price range. But I'm just talking shit out my ass. That said I am planning to buy a pair when I do invest in monitors.ehbrums1 wrote:What baffles me is that at least once a week there's a thread about someone having problems with krk's....so why do people still buy them.. Re: KRK RP5 Problem
You're blowing it all out of proportion...none of them are reasons to not get monitors...it's all quite simple.
Positioning - have your tweeters at ear level, and form an equilateral triangle with each speaker and your head...preferably away from walls, in the centre of your room.
Room size - the bigger the room, the bigger the monitor preferably.
Monitor size - the bigger the room, the bigger the monitor preferably.
Room treatment - most people use nearfield monitors. These don't throw the sound very far. Room treatment isn't half as important as people make out unless you've got a particularly shitty room. A/Bing and knowing your shit inside-out is always the best way.
Even a badly positioned, over/under-sized set of monitors in a shitty room is better than no monitors at all.

Re: KRK RP5 Problem
Thanks, great info... At this point I've learned my cans pretty well, and my set up is somewhat mobile... So monitors are a bit out of the question at this point
