Producing Completely in Maschine

Post by SaveMidnight » Sun Jul 29, 2012 9:08 pm

Has anyone ever tried to produce a whole song in maschine?
I really like the sequencer it has and before i give it a go i wanted to see if anyone had already tried this.

I wouldn't do it, I'd just rewire into ableton

nah, you can, but it won't be as effective as producing in a daw enviroment. but I've got the feeling that we are really close to a NI DAW launch.

If that happened I'd be all over version 3.2 of that!

almost all drums, sometimes other sounds
But i wouldn't mix in it. Don't even know whether or not you can export

I love maschine, it feels so much more intuitive than using a DAW. Way more "jammy" so to speak haha.

Since I got it I haven't done my drums any other way.
I've produced a few fairly simple songs in it... If its anything complex though I like to have logic open.
I really like arranging in it though, it has a really nice layout that makes sense to me.
Arranging in Logic has never been fun, I find I get too caught up in looking at automation curves/numbers/whatever.
The nice thing about machine is I can just ignore my computer screen if I want to and do literally everything with the hardware.

And yes, you can export the master output, each group output, or each sound output individually. Theres an option when you choose to export audio that allows you to choose what you're exporting.

Worst thing that could happen if you tried to produce a complete track is you end up with a bunch of awesome loops that you bounce to audio and can change later.
You can always load your machine projects when running machine as a VST anyways, so its not like its completely separate from your DAW or anything.

adding vst support and komplete integration was the first step. I can tell that a NI daw is coming along with a full integrated controller, maybe a new kore thing. I can feel it.

post scriptum: this may result in a double post, internet is shitty

Yeah I can feel an NI daw on its way too. If they can capture that demographic they'll basically have a stranglehold on the whole market. I could see them doing the same thing they're doing with traktor with a daw, bundling it in with different pieces of hardware to get some market share.

This thread makes me want to dig out my maschine again though, especially now that I'm sampling so much shit and sequencing drums with a mouse is becoming more and more tedious.
