Thread hijack time. I also am in the market for a PC laptop for gaming purposes (I may end up buying a desktop). Money isn't an issue though I'm mostly clueless when it comes to quality PC laptop manufacturers.

Had quite a top of the line Asus before this Macbook.. and this feel much better.
No flimsy plastics, waaay better screen too (people tend to forget that).
Only had it 2 months though, so can't comment on whether it lasts longer or not.
Used to be anti Apple, kind of changed when I broke in this baby. Still not a fan of the company though.

I don't game, but I tried Bioshock 2 on this mbp a few weeks ago and it heated up the whole house.
Was seriously afraid it would melt.

i don't go that way, but i think apple hardware is generally pretty good, but very expensive for what you're getting.

you can't generalize about windows hardware, because it there's such a huge variety.

windows machines may die due to dodgy software, which can be fixed with a fresh OS install.

You can't put all windows laptops together they only run the same operating system, the only laptops with as good build quality are high end: Thinkpads, Sony Vaios, Asus and certain HP models.
