I'm very busy due to my new job so haven't had proper time to record anything. I also haven't made any progress with the new Ongelegen pack

Will try to record something for this thread tomorrow night. If i'm lucky I might be able to work on the new pack too this week, hopefully

Artie, Project EX guys sorry for lack of response, been busy. There's not much to tell about the foley work unfortunately. It was just something I fell into after getting in contact with some people when I moved here. In Austin there's a huge film/music scene and some indie filmmakers were looking for some foley work, I contacted them and we hooked up. From there, they recommended me to other people and so on... just made some contacts. I wanted to try something more big time, and there's some famous filmmakers who live and work in Austin too (Robert Rodriguez comes to mind) and I've met up a couple of times, but nothing big came of it yet. As far as making a career in the big time with it, it seems it's largely a connections type thing like much of anything in the film or music industry. They usually give work to apprentices or friends' family and such. I'd recommend checking out some uni film crews and indie scenes in your cities though. Hit up avant garde type cinemas and you'll meet all kinds of really interesting people looking for some help. Then just build relationships.

Anyway, I found a couple of old SD cards with some recordings. This one stood out... some fireworks. I was actually a few blocks away, but you can still hear people cheering and frightened dogs and car alarms lol. Not sure how useful it is, but I thought it was cool. Sounds like a warzone.

No problem, busy here aswell. I was just asking out of interest. I'm not trying to make a career out of it, I just do it for my own enjoyment. Some great tips though. The uni thing has been suggested to me a few times, definitely wanna give it a shot just for the experience, but the lack of time is holding me back. Maybe some day...

Windscreen hasn't arrived yet, but we had this awesome storm the other day. Went out to record it, but realized the wind was going to make it worthless, so I was talking the whole time. No uploading.

I currently have recordings of :
an ethnic drum store
Crunching dried leaves
destroying lava rocks
some claps
fireworks
and other misc field recordings.

Problem is I have a lot of assignments for school so I probably wont get around to processing them for a while.

If someone were willing to process some and upload them to this thread I'd be happy to give them to you

i promised a while back that i would post up a few of the tape field recording sample packs I have created.

they are all recorded on various formats of tape (micro/regular/reel to reels), and the recorded material is just about anything including chopped rhodes stride playing and etc. If people are interested in crunchy, lo fi accidental recordings I'll share them. They are not clean, they are filled with various noise and thats part of the point of utilizing tape to do this.

Let me know who wants them, I'll make them into racks and upload a set of them or just a zip of samples. Shoot me a msg if you are interested. They are on my ftp and i'd rather that link not get strewn everywhere and I am sure these samples are not for everyone.
