The US is still one of the only places to purposely add fluoride to water isn't it? Fairly sure it's illegal in some other places.

Large parts of New Zealand still have fluoridated water. There are also a handful of groups opposed to it here.

I expected as much so it wasn't really news. I don't keep up with that though, I put far worse stuff into my body than fluoride I'm sure. Just had a bottle of OE, can't be much better haha.

flouride creates a lattice that is more similar to tooth enamel than any other chemical lattice-compound we can easily/cheaply access. This effectively makes it a great temporary protective sheath over the front of the enamel and it also helps to fill in gaps and pits.
There's never been a question over fluoride's toxicity - it's a highly dangerous/reactive substance in high enough concentrations. If you went and swallowed a 100ml of water that was 50% fluoride you can kiss the sky. You won't last 10 minutes.
However, at these low concentrations and kept in an emulsified salt as in toothpastes, it is much less dangerous, but clearly we are starting to see some side effects to using it a lot.
What I can say is that there is almost no risk involved as long as you don't actually swallow it.

I see! I hear swallowing water's quite popular. :D Think I wouldn't mind keeping the two seperate really.

i got confused haha
but fluoride is in toothpaste. In water it's in such a low concentration (at least here in the UK) that it won't really affect you at all. No more harmful than table salt at the kind of concentrations we use.
