@GuitarJon I think the stuttered effect kind of throws off the whole melodic part at the start. after that its pretty sick man. i think basses could use something to mesh a bit more with each other maybe its just something to do with the mixing.

@rymebox gna be honest. at the start i was thinking what the fuck is this... but the drop is pretty sick man. i think the only problem with this is that the first part is too long and sounds like a completely different track lol.

@Burgeamon funky as fuck vibes on this. finding this hard to fault. the only thing i could think of is adding some more in the first section... maybe some progressed distortion or bit crushing over the whole section? just and idea i dno. i think all it needs is some good mastering and it would be pretty big.

Soundcloud

something i started last night. looking for feedback. i've also got a few other new tracks up if you would dare venture to my soundcloud profile.

cheers in advance lads!

@outdropt Give feedback to 3 other people first.

@BevOh Nice ideas on the intro although everything sounds to be panned to the left (check your stereo widening settings) and theres way too much reverb on everything. Strip back any widening and reverb you have and try to remix the elements better in stereo manually with reverb used as a send. Some good ideas in the track, drums are nice - just needs mixing properly with the right fx.

@Syndicatedubstep Give feedback to 3 other people first.

@MassAphekt Sweet intro, really nice synths and drums. Mix is tight imo. The vocals are nice too. Really have no negatives to comment on, aside from the fact maybe add a touch more bass (listening on headphones though...). Very well made track man, everything is spot on - vocal chops at the end are sweet too :W:

@GuitarJon Work on your synths at the start, it sounds like a casio keyboard lol. Vocals build well as do the chords. The atmosphere is really nice, perhaps try and bring out the kick a little more (sidechaining?) and widen some of the synths on the main section. Glitchy second drop is really cool, nice ideas there too. Not sure what else to recommend :P

@rymebox Intro is really nice and clean, well done. Everything seems to be sitting nicely although personally I don't like the pitch changing in the build - ruins the feel of the track imo. Synths on the drop are nice, good work on the basses. Maybe just try and bring out the drums a tad more, and maybe add a few more hats?

Here's my track, based around Molly by Cedric Gervais, not mixed well at all - just wanted to get some feedback on the structure and ideas :W:

thanks for the feedback people.

mthrfnk: yea work with the mixdown, the overall tune is upbeat, big room 4x4 type stuff. not exactly my style, but keep at it.

@BevOh I think you should definitly make some edits after every 32 beats or w.e. it is 2 bars IDK it just sounds repetive and also turn down that reverb man, it sounds like your playing it in a concert hall if anyone tried to play it live the reverberation in the room plus your reverb would = mess

Hello everybody!

Haven't been able to work on a tune for ages.. Picked up this really old one, arranged it a little and added a few flourishes. Only a rough mixdown - this is where I want the feedback! Also on structure and just the tune in general.

Soundcloud

BevOh - Love the intro! What synth did you use for the long sound with the filter opening at the beginning? Imo the drums have a bit too much verb and not really enough "Bite". Love the sounds before the drop.. Bass synths fit well and sound nice. Has a very good atmosphere but is still heavy - I like!

outdrop - Nice groovy kick / snare mixed with quantised hats are nice.. I like the groove on the hats after the synth comes in. A nice note sequence but the synths could be changed up a little. I like the haunting voice that comes in.. Very nice idea. I really like the section from 1min 50. Good job!

mthrfunk - You say not mixed well but I like how everything is popping out.. This is a tune that is begging for some good compression work to get a very nice pumping going. I love the voice - where is this from? Synth work is very good, what synth you using? Compression on the synth is really good... Breakdown is sounding great so far! Very nice kick on the drop. I really like the idea of this! For me it was begging for a Knife Party style drop but it's much "nicer" with what you have done.. Much more club danceable... Great work buddy!

Cyrax - I like the delay on the synth, very suspenseful. Great pad too. . . . Is this your first track in general or just your first dubstep tune . . . ? I sense some experience in production here! Drum work is very nice after drop.. Drums need a lot more punch but I like them a lot. Great work!

First off thanks for the feedback :)
I'll try pushing the synths harder through a comp, atm they're all bussed with just an exciter and sidechained. The voice is from Molly by Cedric Gervais, the reason I made this is because I like the voice in the original track but hate how underwhelming the track actually is. I also layered it with a pitched down version and had a vocoder on a send channel :) Synth work is all from Vanguard, my new fave tbh, you can get some nice analogue-ish sounds from it - I'm bored by Massive atm so decided to switch it up. Tbh if i could pull off a Knife Party drop I'd love to on the 2nd drop - might spend some time creating one :6:

As for your track it's really nice man, the mix is sounding good and powerful. The intro build well - all the elements sit together with the lead synth bopping along. The vox are good too. Nice drop, heavy bass work, but the drums still come through nicely. If I'm honest I'd maybe build before the drop a bit longer, maybe with some more ambiance (like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqHPeNeEeZQ). Not much else I can pick up on man, stuff seems to be on point, really just a matter of finishing the structure and mixing down as well as you can. Great job :W:

Soundcloud Hello!!! This IS going to be my newest and biggest track so far guys any feedback appreciated. I'm looking for someone to answer these questions on

1. Did the drop come in 32 beats too late? I have my intro at 4 bars, then breakdown 4 bars but shit i dont how how to bring in those big trancy synths without leaving a big pause any help here is MUCHHH appreciated!!!

2. Drums sound okay? how can i make them punchier (working in FL studio 10 btw) so far i've got them lined to a send track with maximus on it doing NY compression.

3. I don't like my snares reverb, any way i can make it sound cleaner and still punchy with the same lengthy decayed reverb??

You guys are awesome and i love what we do. Keep blastin those block rockin beats!!

going in reverse chronological order here....

@mthrfnk: i hate this kind of music...but i will admit, you actually had be bopping and dancing....i was shocked with myself. not much else to say, but that's a big compliment haha

@Ascian: nothing wrong production wise from what i can hear. my personal taste just gets tired of constant growling basslines, but the structure of your newest wip is wicked, all the little half-time breakdowns and drum switch ups are perfect...and that first tune in your sig is just fucked hahaha...not my style but incredible!!! not much more to say, nice work man

@BevOh: again, not my style, but hey, s'all good...definately get a hold on your reverbs, make sure your eq's are still doing their job when you're adding reverb and keep control of the tails/dry-wet/space paramaters. it's a bit washy at the moment. i reckon you could freq the fuck out of your drums too...beef them up with saturation and a bit of parralel compression and then make some crazy rhtyhms that play off the bassline a bit more. it'll groove much better if you get some interplay going! keep at it man, nice work

@guitarJon: woah....another tune in a style iw ouldn't normally listen to....pretty fucking sick, the way you've chopped the melody is awesome. only thing i can say really is that everything is fucked up loud...not in the sense that it's too loud, but see the waveform on the player? it doesn't change a lot, and when it does, you can't hear a difference really. add some filter automation and cool eq shit in the sections that aren't the drop section, and it'll give it way more impact, even if it's just in the 4 bars before the drop. otherwise actually fucking sick!!! :W:

@IntheCrowd holy sweet mother of jesus, that is an amazing tune. just keep doing what you're doing, mabye at this point get your eq, compression and gain structure totally done and as you want it, and just develop the melody for another 32 bars or however long you want. add some new percussion over the top, add in some crazy little switch ups in the hi-hats and snares (and the kick, why not?). a breakdown section with everything except the drums for say, 2 bars, and then the drums come in with a fill or something, would also be wicked. just what i'm hearing in my head, hoppefully that gives you somewhere to go. otherwise it's fucking mad!!!!! would love to get a 320 of it when it's done!!

@Burgeamon not my style, but with regards to your basses having girth (hehe 8) ) you can add chorus, flanger, a stereo widening tool (if you have one, most daws come with some sort of stereo widener), you can duplicate the track and having each panned hard l/r...or, if you're using massive, just chuck on the dimension expander, and BAM!!!! huge, heavy, wide basslines!!! or just add more modulation! spend lots of time on sound design, it's often what will make your tune stand out

@dougriley bassline feels a bit static to me...not sure what it is...i think it's just the rhythms/timing...has a lot of potential though, mabye get rid of the wobble and try something new, the drums are sounding wicked....actually as it plays out, the growls from 1:38 onwards groove MUCH better, and the whole tunes moves forward as one beast...mabye work on that idea! should be a hectic tune!!!

ok i think that's enough feedback

so i've got two tunes:

first one is an update on one of my tunes i'm working on for this fucking ep which is killing me, so much work, hooley fuck.
let us know how you think it's going
Soundcloud

and this second one is something i did in two hours last night when i had a mid-life crisis about my whole music life revolving around dubstep and dubstep only for the last 6 months. let us know what you think, i don't listen to music like this, i've never made 4x4 music, so feedback would be much appreciated :4:

andrei stephen- that intro is sick, everything seems to sit well in the mix

Living_tragedy- after a build up like that, the drop felt kinda 'meh.' I like it, but the build up to it felt as long as the drop.

mthrfnk- The intro feels a little long, but other than that its a cool track. I like the seagulls.

Ada- Those synths are prime. The intro and middle section seem to be a little long, but thats House Music for you, I guess.

eye-sic - At first I was going to say your drop was underwhelming but I listened to it a few times and I actually do like it and think it works pretty well.

Kongret- Nice track, All I could say is that you might want to look at the section coming out of the drop/ into the next drop.

Ce9958- at :13 I was ready to throwdown but it went in a direction I wasn't expecting. Pretty good. The synths at 1:07 are really clean.

ArrenMog- I'm not really into dungeon but you might change my mind on that. Love the snare sound.

If you guys get a chance check out my WIP in my sig.
Thanks!

I think people are ignoring you because you arent providing any feedback. So maybe try that.
as for feedback for you, your drop felt like you added it because you wanted it, not b/c of the song.

@Houston Weather I like your experimentalness you got some cool soundy stuff i can hear if your panning any of your percussion? maybe try that a little. you could work a little more on your sound design, but i really like how you mixed it a lot. jw what kinda plugins your using if you use any for your mastering. Is this track mastered?

No mastering plugins, and its not mastered. But thanks for the feedback, right now mastering and sound design feel like my weaknesses.
