The Drums..

I finally got my DAW bought and i'm looking to start recording and putting a lot of stuff together. I've been wondering what everyone does to get those deep drums. Do people buy additional drum loops, use their daw's with effects, drum packs and if they buy other peoples drum packs won't that look like they're copiers? What's the best route here?

2: How do people go about getting their music so it can't be stolen? Do you have to go to court for this? Does it cost money? Do you have to do this per track? If it costs money, how much?

3. When writing music is it best to use your computer keys, a midi keyboard or the onscreen keyboard?

4. I had a link to where there was a lot of tutorials for getting started with dub step, but now I can't seem to find it..

5.How did you learn to make dub step/electro music?

1: Personally, I use a combination of my DAW's stock banks of 808 and 909 samples, my own found sound and drum recordings, my own synthesized drums and a few from sample packs. I'd recommend investing in a microphone to allow yourself to make completely unique recordings to work with, even if they are as mundane as hand claps or bashing various objects together.

2: Don't know all the ins and outs of copyright law but I think as soon as you create anything (ie write notes down, record/produce a track) it immediately becomes your own intellectual property and is already protected by copyright laws.

3: A MIDI keyboard is recommended for a better workflow in my opinion, however it's certainly not essential for making computer music.

4: Search for 'producer masterclass' on youtube, an excellent series made by the Computer Music magazine where they basically spend a few hours in the studio with a famous electronic artist.

I actually wrote two pretty awesome melodies only to find them both destroyed. When I open up the project again or something the sound has completely changed into some diarrhea sounding hamburglar. The notes are the same but it just doesn't right. Sometimes right after i record it too it sounds a lot different then when I was playing.

i just got a macbook pro. First mac i've ever had. i;m using logic now instead of ableton demo.. lol. but i found ableton easier to use. This whole macbook crap i don't know how to copy and paste in logic and the drums are just whack.

this happened to me in ableton when I was using a older cracked ver of massive

make sure your copy is up to date if you're using it -- would sound fine when played on keyboard and as a clip in arrangement, but once recorded into the daw it was garbage.
