New track in the works, just getting is flushed out into song-shape tonight, figure it's a good time for some feedbacks. Pretty rough copy at the moment.

alpz- i like it already it sounds very clean.
Brothulu- i would quite down some of the sounds on the drop and make the sub go deeper and take up more of the drop. like it tho. might make the kicks a little harder at 100hz-80hz but maybe u like them subtle like the way they are.
kqmtb2006 i love the melodies man, i recognize it started off a sylenth preset tho. nevertheless sounds cool. might wanna check if that drop synth is in key tho. i would make it more reverberated too. idk what else

Hey and this is a trap remix i made of Ruins of Alph from Pokemon G/S/C.
Its pretty much done or is done, but i wanted to keep it simple with the 8 bit melody, but i made it relatively fast and for fun. check the second drop t00

@mthrfnk: I really like this. The only problem I can see with it is the clap. I find it really distracting and detracts from the piece as a whole. It also appears to hit after the kick which makes it stand out even more. If you sorted out the timing and did something to make the clap less jarring (maybe add a highpass filter and aggressively increasing the frequency during each hit? Or a lowpass filter doing the opposite?) this could be a great track.
@djdizzy: I love it. Really uplifting and the airy vocals are great. However, the vocals seem to create dissonance with the rest of the track in the second half. I also don't think the glitchyness at 1:32 really fits, but that could just be me.
@kqmtb2006: I love the 8 bit feel. However, during the drop the leads and basses are conflicting. To fix this you could e.q. the top out of the bass and the bottom out of the lead so the lead really cuts through. As well as this, I think the ending is too sudden and the single tone doesn't work.
@ill mindset: I really like this track. the one improvement I would suggest is a better transition at 2:03, it just feels a bit too sudden.

Anyway, this is my latest track. I made it in Ableton live lite and as such was limited to 8 tracks and 6 effects. Because of this, some things (like the drums) are place-holders for when I get Ableton live proper and can layer and e.q. them (I'll get it within the next month). The entire thing also needs to be e.q.ed. Aside from this, what other suggestions do you have?

Make your drums in a different project, bounce then import?

Clodmeister: Cool sound, a better mixdown would help alot tho...
Lightshapers: Hellacool! Do some layerin' on the lead to get a bigger feelin, think Swedish House Mafia
Brycegil: Now thats a weird mix of sounds... Don't know what to say...

This is my latest WIP...

Feedback:
@Clodmeister This is hilarious, the chiptune synth against the trap hats made me smile. The style is good, just not sure the chiptune stuff mixes well (although I realise that's what you're going for with the Pokemon thing). At points the melody becomes a bit too dissonant. All in all, a fun track. :P
@Brycegil This intro is really nice, although the melody is familiar, seems like a really common chord progression - I'd drop the last chord down a few notes so that the progression isn't always travelling upwards. The hats and drums are nice as they are tbh. The wubs needs a bit of work, a tad too harsh and not as warm as they could be, and I'd maybe slow the LFO speed in places. Really nice track man, keep it up. :W:
@Alexandercunningham Nice intro man, the whole thing reminds me of XXYYXX. I'd try to give your kick and snare more punch, and maybe every 2 or 4 snares drown it in reverb to change it up. Not much else to say, sounding good :)

Just a quick preview from me, thoughts on the synths & chords?

@Brothulu - I concur with giving the kick some more sub frequencies, I'd also throw some effects on the melodic synth to give it some more beef, it sounds pretty sparse as is. Some velocity variation would do the percussion well too, sounds slightly mechanical.

@Lightshapers - Not quite my forte as far as style goes, but this sounds very well produced and mixed, props.

@Brycegil - There are some less that desirable frequencies in that bass that could be cut for a nicer sound. Also some velocity variation on the percussion would give a more natural feel. As Brothulu suggested, you could (and if I were restricted like that I would) make each element in it's own project and bounce it to audio, then import all those tracks into one project for polishing. This way you could make much more complex and polished sounds than you could with 8 tracks and 6 effects.

@Alexandercunningham - I'd do some work on the samples themselves, clean up the end points to prevent them from cutting off so suddenly and clicking. Could work on EQing and your levels a bit too, it sounds like some of the elements are fighting for space a little bit (the vocals are drowning out the bass a little bit, and the vocals are quite loud compared to the rest of the elements).

@mthrfnk - Chords sound good and clean, nice melody. Could beef up the claps some, they seem pretty thin. Kicks could also benefit a little from some more punch, but they sound fine as they are.

Haven't started on the drums yet, just got the patterns down to roughly what I wanted so I'll get on that :W:

What kind of effects? Delay maybe? Going to try some stuff out thanks

mthrfunk- ha thanks for recognizing my intentions i make alot of my tunes quite jokingly, although il put up a more serious slow-hop type of tune soon. as for ur wip its sounds pretty clean. would like it to have some more reverb/echoe or atmosphere in it tho. nice chords tho :W:
Alexandercunningham cool track this is the kind of stuff im into  maybe would quite down the vocals tho, pump up atmosphere
Brycegil cool intro. would change up that clap though and completely ditch the wobble i dont think it fits. maybe construct something to replace it. more echoe and maybe eq it so it sounds a little more thinner in the sub area and so it sounds more realistic? just an opinion.

@mthrfnk really nice progressive house to this point hm maybe just beef up all the sounds when you are done with arrangment abit but i would keep it mellow too dunno i like where this is going
maybe you can find some vocals? or some longe pads on top like every bar with long tail?

@Alexandercunningham like the vocals could work as a lofi vibe but if you want you could bring down the vocals abit the snare maybe up a bit or sidechain some elements maybe make even more room for the bass and add maybe another deeper layer

@Brycegil like the main melody the bass could work even without the wobble just straight hm maybe bring all the elements upfront a bit more hi hats are nice where they are though

@lightshaper not a fan of those ultra loud tunes anymore but it doesnt clip so its ok for the audience its aimed at hm cant really say what to change i would take my main interest on the 8 bit melodies though

clodmaster really nice fast hi hat work hm like the pokemon vibes maybe add some more highs to all elements besides the hi hats bring those abit down with maybe some reverb not sure if they hey hip hop shouts are really needed maybe amke them more 8 bitsy or sth haha maybe sth like a microsoft sam hey

@brothulu in terms of transition maybe drop the beat too with some delay on a send on soem elements leading into the idm melody part and maybe overall some more beat changes or double the beat with some more voice stabs filling those blanks maybe even shuffle abit

alpz not abi fan of dungeon anymore but i like the reverb work in that one maybe bring another snare on top of the deep one occasionaly dunno maybe some more hi hat breaks reverse stuff open breaks with dubdelay? some shouts, maybe some additional reeces to the deep midrange-sub combination?

ok heres my newest wip soundcloud penetrated it in the ass really hard so maybe some feedback on the main idea

Subtle delay and reverb to give it a more natural flute sound, slightly longer attack, some slight distortion perhaps. Fiddle around and see what sounds good.

Thx for the feedback already guys, I updated my WIP from a few posts up:
Soundcloud

@BudSpencertron: This shit is fresh. So nice, the reversed vocals work well. Bass is deep and crisp. Tbh I'm not a fan of the plucked instrument - it's too loud, I'd prefer it if it were more of an ambient instrument rather than a lead. Where are all the vox from man, sound crazy! Drums are coming through nicely. Doesn't sound too fucked by soundcloud btw. Not really sure what else to suggest :h:

I'll give some more feedback in addition to the stuff posted above tomorrow :W:

Hey guys! Here is my latest WIP. It's a SUPER short clip, but the reason for that is because I want to fix this problem, not deal with it until I finish the track, but I am having a problem with my supersaw and my plucks clashing and fighting for room :'( It's like no matter what I do, they keep fighting >.< take a listen and let me know! Also, other than help with that, just feedback on it in general would be nice(: what you think about it as a whole.

Soundcloud

@Brothulu I like this track! It's very dark! Def spice it up with some effects like alpz said. Other than that, I suggest that you VERY SUBTLY sidechain compress the bass from the kick and snare so that they have their own "space" in a sense, considering they seem to me like the main elements of the track :D Ooh! Also maybe add a pad or something so that the track doesn't sound so dry, you know? It would give it just a little bit of atmosphere.

@Alexandercunningham I think that it's a very chill track and it's very original :o Um.... definitely go easy with those vocals man(: the fact that they are low makes the bass frequencies of the vocal and sub clash a bit. Also, EQ out the top end of the vocal around 8-10k hz because there are certain consonants in the vocal that are causing a high sting that kind of hurts your ears. You can try putting the reverb on a return track and sidechain compressing them from the vocal so that when you send the vocal to the return track, the reverb never gets in the way of the vocal, keeping it clean and clear.

@mthrfnk wow wow and wow. This is beautiful. It's very well put together. Only advice I can give is with those little sweeps, throw a delay on them and set the time of one side to 10ms and the other to 30 and bring the dry wet up to about 75%. This way your sweeps have their own area and, though they aren't ridiculously overbearing, they still have the power that leads into the next section and really creates that transition feel mentally. Big ups man.
I make Dubstep n' stuff(:

@Sparky : Nice glitched vocals, but they're sounding a bit muddy, needs more hi end on it, + a light reverb maybe. Drums are classic, nothing to say on that.

@mthrfnk : I'm not a 4x4 fan, but your tune sounds really good, love that tambourine. Very good production mate !

@BudSpencertron : Damn, That excalated quickly ! This one is really sick, love these reversed vocals and that reese. Personnal advice : Add a tambourine shot on the hats pattern of the second part to add more variation :)

@Alexandercunningham : Really minimalist rythm here... A bit too much for me. Your hats need more groove. Too much low end on that mix, a bit more eq, and less sub on that, it's killing it all.

@Brycegil : Lite version... :s Seems hard to give feedback on that, anyway, it needs more punch. A proper version would really help you :)

Here's mine now, I haven't uploaded stuff for a while. Keeping tunes private for labels is like pain in ass :( That's a 170BPM WIP, mixdown is crappy. Enjoy :)

Nice track man, dig the vocals and the backing synths. Have you tried sidechaining the plucks to the supersaw, so that every time a pluck hits an EQ on the supersaw ducks very quickly at the frequency of the pluck?

alpz - nice and cold. think it needs something a bit grimy sounding in there though, bit of slow lfo'd wompy filth

brothulu - bleak

clodmeister - trap? needs more lazers and pitched down cliched gangster rap samples :P

bryce - not really my cup of tea tbh. do like the piano though

mthrfnk - chords and sound choices are nice enough, think for it to work you need to make
it develop and filter the stabs up as the track rolls along, would help keep peoples interest imo,
maybe try starting off with everything quite dry sounding and gradually build it and make it sound bigger
with automated reverb room size/decay/diffusion etc on the synths, not too much/dont over do it though

budspencer - bass sound is niiiiiice

sparky - dude it sounds cool, that vocal chop is a weeeeeee bit too skrillex like though

darj - cool feel to it, theres something in there that reminds me of that predator/roland jv2080 sound

 i mean bleak as in the feel/vibe/atmosphere of it, its very minor key, you dont really want to make it less bleak, if anything that would sound weird

as for improving it - thats a hard one to comment on as i like bigger sounding drums but that probably wouldnt suit what you are going for, you could maybe try some little tricks like having delay and reverb on a send, routing individual drum hits to it, and then automating the send amount to make it a little more 'dubby'

also it might be worth trying to dirty the drums a little with some subtle bit crushing or distortion, give them a little more character instead of being so clean.

bit of vinyl crackle might suit it as well
