Outbound lays down the bassweight THICK on this release with a series of tight productions worthy of your best bassbins. ‘Temperament’ is truly heavyweight, a beefy roller with Distance-esque synths and a nice percussive hop that’s sure to keep the dancefloor bouncing. ‘Nocturne’ is a dark and hard-hitting track with plenty of attitude in all the right places, perfectly suitable to a Sith starship or other such villainy. ‘Society’ wobbles in nicely with excellent use of delay on the lead synth and subtle hints of tribalism in the drums, while still maintaining the depth and edge that runs strong throughout the release. ‘Last Call’ changes up the vibe a bit to round out the EP nicely, demonstrating that Outbound can produce beautiful melodies with the same proficiency that characterizes his darker material. This track is wonderfully emotive and features a variety of stringed instruments that complement each other well. An excellent EP overall, and one that should appeal to any true basshead. - Arkanix
