INB4BROSTEPMERGE

I have no animosity towards the skrillex for being wrongly labeld dubstep or for the sound he is pushing.

In all honesty i kinda liked some of the skrilly stuff in small doses, although the lack of low end is kinda an issue & some of it hurts my ears.

I'm not sure hate is the right word, seems strange to hate someone you don't know.

What (some) people don't like about Skrillex is that he has reached super god mega uber star levels of fame and success and he is by a long way the most universally recognised name in Dubstep... now whats wrong with that I hear you ask?. Well (some) people dont like the fact the dubstep genre is now synonymous with GrRRRRrRRRRrr noises he is famous for. I think there is also some resentment that, as you mentioned, a lot of people seem to think he basically started Dubstep which is far from being true.

The synic in me also think that (some) people just hate him cause hes succesfull which is about the worst thing you can become in music to the real 'hipsters' out there. Particuarly as half the charm of Dubstep is that its being played in some blokes basement to a bunch of pilled up youths, not at the grammy awards.

Now personally I think hes a great producer regardless of my views on his music to the point where the fact he a shite dj doesnt even matter... his mixes are already made and they are pretty sick. He is one of the best live acts I have seen and while I don't like all his tracks, there are a few which when dropped in a mix make people go alarmingly mental.

Each to there own though man, he got big and good for him, he has some good tunes and some rubbish ones... dude was in the right place at the right time.

Mind you I could probably be quite famous if my best mate was Deadmau and he promoted my music through his record label.

I could add he had tough time with his label (kept contract with his hardcore band's one), and was living on debts and couch-surfing for a while. His success is deserved, I like most of his stuff a lot. Whatever style it's called. And I understand the early 'hardcore' listener reaction toward him being called the dubstep messiah and so on.

Zambezi : I like your post very much, and totally agree. words of wisdom.

I fully agree. I think that Skrilly's the most talented producer, skill wise, on the planet. Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites is the dupstep anthem bro!
Better than that boring chillstep shit like Benga and Skream for sure.

Dubturbo is the shit.

I love how you can have 16 tracks, all in stereos.

also, you know what most sequencers suck... Because they actually use .mp3's for their samples, so you're building beats with second generation compressed sounds... not cool. WHAT'S WORSE? To add insult to injury, when you export from other programs, they take the MP3's you've built your tune with, and they compress them again as your 'master' < lol!

THAT MEANS your final output is third generation, compressed twice, and sample rates are out the window.. . ... GOOD LUCK trying to sell that to someone - or getting an artist to vibe on it - or a radio station to play it.. . ..YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!! Other online beat makers are NOT industry standard in quality or in sound. Some also just give you ONE bar to build/loop and play with - like huh? What's the point of doing that?

its no wonder that DUBturbo -has been marked As The Most Controversial BeatMaker On The Market" ('Cause It Does 10 x As Much While Costing 10 x Less Than Other Software. Made For All Levels)

I personally use spotify to make my music, when i DJ i use spotify and grooveshark together.
