I follow specific artists but i'm not fussed about the scene as a whole, i dont think i ever was to be honest, i just like specific artists and their music. Quite bored of music in general.

i still listen to dubstep producers/DJs that are still pushing the real sound, but atm i'm listening more to reggae, dub, hiphop and rock bands
It's about dropping a track at the wrong speed, and it sounding better than the real thing.

Now and then, sure. There's still a fair amount of stuff coming out that I really like actually. On a bit of a 92-93 Hardcore tip right now though.

lol. i find the crowd to be a lot less female-unfriendly than mainstream clubs & some other genres. its a bit of a paradox on nights out that if there is a lot of women men will be more interested in sexytime than if there is a minority of women. that said i do find it a bit awks being the only woman sometimesfaust.dtc wrote:Thats how I read it.dubfordessert wrote:too male orientated
I kid. I kid.
also one of the reasons i dont like aggy tearout stuff is because it promotes an aggressive climate which i find threatening lmao.

Yes, but in terms of specific tunes I'm finding it harder to find stuff that interests me, or more importantly doesn't sound like the same stuff I've heard over and over. There is still a shit ton of identikit dungeonesque crap that I come across that sounds like bad Biome imitation.
Mixes wise, Forensics is a must grab every time he posts a new one, and Tornado put up one recently that I loved, so he's on the list as well.
If I was in London tonight I'd be down SYSTEM without a doubt, but here in Madrid I've yet to find a decent dubstep (or DnB night come to that matter) that isn't tearout/bro/clownstep, which is big here for some reason.

Re: does anyone here actually listen to dubstep anymore?
Not that much atm. Electronic music wise, most of the shit I've been digging lately has been.. like.. the techstep - hardcore (gabber/industrial. etc kind, not rave) spectrum. Tech Itch, Dylan, Killing Sheep, DJ Producer, N-Vitral, Outside Agency, Limewax, Deathmachine. Heads in the breakcore thread probably noticed haha.
I'm not 'too cool for it', I've just kinda heard it. I still love the stuff that made really get into it, but I've been more 'loving it from a distance'. Sometimes you just love music, but can't appreciate it the way you used to I guess.

And yeah, Gene, I've really been getting into techstep lately. A lot of good stuff out there!

I'm having problems keeping up with music these days - there's so much of it...
I recently purchased that Gotye Making Mirrors because of the Hype...and the snippets I heard sounded good...
but I felt it was overtly retro...
and all the singing was getting on my neves - thought it was like the new Beck or something...
and ended up liking Tycho Dive better...alot better

I've really been enjoying the ambient stuff, Phaeleh, Submerse, Ghostek. I used to listen to Downlink, Excision type stuff but it grew old quickly. I like a lot of the ambient garage stuff too.

i just dont care about being on top of every release anymore, and distanced myself from the subculture of it...or maybe found my place idk. all i know is i still enjoy going to shows regardless of who is playing
