@djraynes - not really feeling that lead sound tbh, not sure if its the melody or the sound itself

@jetpack - quite like that, think the arrangement needs some work

@echoi - that eerie sort of hammond/synth pad sound is quite cool

@nokko - kick needs to be deeper/heavier, sounds like youve layered a hat over the top or boosted the 5 to 8k a bit much trying to make it punchy

@smores - the dubstep with derpy tune probably has some potential :lol: might want to take all the reverb off the drums though - the 'sup bishes' tune could be quite good with a bit more work

@trapdoor - not sure if you need that breakdown in there from 2.31 - 3.27, makes it drag along a bit too much, sub sounds weighty

rough bounce of a preview/wip im working on at the minute

Here's a weird DNB track. As you might tell from the title, its a bootleg of Overjoyed by Bastille. It hasn't had a final mixdown yet and I don't have headphones or monitors so I might just be SOL for that at the time being. I look forward to the criticism.

As for my criticism I'll be posting it as comments directly on people's soundclouds.

Nokko: I think it sounds pretty good, like DJ Raynes said you nailed the breakdown but I can't really add anything that he hasn't said already except for that I liked the melody.

Echoi: Love it, only complaint that I have is around :50 right before it starts to fade out, that sound was to high pitch for me, don't know if it was resonance or something but it was a bit harsh. Other than that I wouldn't change a thing.

jetpack: Thanks for the feedback! Damn I love that wobble that starts at 1:17, shook my room a bit. A great sounding track! The drums are very well done too.

DJRaynes: I definitely like that higher register lead but, although it does sound well, I don't like the note choice for the bassline. It would probably sound fine alone but I don't think it really fits with this lead.

lightshapers: Really liking the drops and that break in the middle. However the track as a whole sounds too loud for me. Great use of the sample though!

Ocelots Revolver: I like the track, good progression and arrangement, just wish it had more energy. That hat or break (can't tell) though that you hear at 2:38 sounds great there but it sounds out of place to me in the two verses.

SMOR3S: I think that the beginning needs a bit more movement and progression before the drop and the kick thing that you've got going as the build-up is a bit long and overwhelming when it gets faster. I also think that the nice melody that you had in the beginning gets lost in the bass after the drop, BUT I do think you've got a good idea going here.

Thank you for the feedback.. It's just an updated WIP! I plan to change it a lot more.. The high hats, are to over powering, and the lead synth does get lost.. I need to EQ down the subs, they are way to deep.. /)

@SMOR3S: At first I thought it sounded kinda funky but then the beat kicked in and it had me moving. The bars where the kick builds up didn't do it for me and just when I thought "that vocal sample feels out of place." That feeling of wanting to move came back :)

@Ocelots Revolver: It'll be a hit when it is finished.

@lightshapers: Super catchy tune!

@DJRaynes: Not my cup of tea. At some points the bass sounded out of place. The kick sounded more like a click. I think a better choice of instruments would make this tune charming. I liked the bass solo.

@jetpack: I agree with Ocelots Revolver's comments on your soundcloud. I would love to hear this finished.

GAAH!! Thanks!! I wuv positive feedback :3 Makes me feel like I am doing something right, gehe ^__^

I need to fix the vocal samples a bit, EQ the kicks, make some rises, fix the Exciter, and EQ on synths, mess with reverb, some more on vocals, fix the intro, and make an outro, then I am done with this track...

I guess my genre is Vocal Trance, House, Trouse, Electro House, but I just like making feel good music, that makes you wanna dance, and knob turn, if you have knobs :3

Hey guys,

Taken on board some of the comments, reworked the wip slightly.
Parallel compressed the kick to beef it up a bit, although to my ear it now sounds too boomy :?
Also changed the arrangement slightly as well, and lost one of the pads.
There is geometry in the humming of the strings, there is music in the spacing of the spheres.

@smor3s - not bad. kinda happy sounding...

@lightshapers - nasty tune you got there. very full spectrum action going there.

@jetpack - mix sounds great on this man. nice groove as well. wobs towards the end are kinda thin...

@echoi - ill. lovn the mechanical feel on this.

@nokko - really synthy, and kinda happy. not bad... but kinda happy.

@trapdoor - not bad sir. epic, chill, and grime.

@oprs - sound really cool man. might just be me but i'd pull them hand drums down in the mix some. the ambiance is pretty ill. some really filtered up reese cuts would sound cool in this.

@eye-sic - intro seemed a bit long with no samples but had tons of tension. the drop was worth the wait though. basses are perfect. mix is tight. progression is getn' it. props good sir. very nice.

i jokingly made some trapstep to mess around with some buddies... turned out to be kinda fun in a strange way... check it

@ Jimbeaux;
Pretty sick groove in the intro man. Can't really think of it as Trap tho but I seriously love the groove.

@ SMOR3S;
Intro is a bit messy with all the reverb. There is almost no space to let other instruments breath, seems so overwhelming.
Drum roll gets really annoying. Bit too long for my liking. The vocal is way too high in the mix. There's so much going on, way too much I believe. Just looking at your waveform you don't seem to have any dynamics left. I like the idea tho, sorry for all the negative comments, I'm just trying to give some constructive criticism :D.

@ Lightshapers;
Now this intro is what I like. Amazing build-up, something that could make the crowd go wild.
The production value on this is insane and I don't really say that quickly. Get this released ASAP.

@ Jetpack;
Lovely intro, I expected some drums coming in after the first 8 bars, would give it a nice vibe.
Not feeling a lot of low end but the drums sounds spot on. Sounds a bit like a long intro to me. Should change some stuff up at the drop to make it more exciting.
REALLY feeling the vibe tho, that vocal is sick.

@ Echoi;
Ez mate, love your work. I can see it's a very early WIP. Beefing those synths up would give it a much bigger vibe but I guess that's what's on the to-do list. Can't really comment any further on it tho.

@ Nokko;
Kick seems to be lowcutted way too much for my liking.
Really love the breakdown man. Some stabs are really loud,seems like something went wrong with compression?

@ Trapdoor;
Love your sounds but not a fan of the note progression. Seems your flanger or chorus is a bit too much aswel.

So I guess I got everyone as far as I could. Would love to get some feedback on this, been working on it for quite some while and I got so used to it that I can't seem to find any flaws I would change so I need an extra pair of ears.
Soundcloud
Thank you!
EDIT: Seems like the downgrading did the quality no good so ignore the crackle/clipping.

@Cubicle - Got a very uplifting feel, not much of a fan of the drop seems a bit too simplistic and the buzz annoys the hell outta me haha

@Jimbeaux - Liking this quite a lot actually man, wasn't sure if I would or not, all I would say is make that snare a bit more punchy, seems like it has no high end right now as do some of the synths, it needs to be more 'rich' haha

@SMOR3S - Liking this a lot man, sounding well produced as well! Not sure what to say otherwise, sounding pretty dope, try adding some more variation perhaps

Here's my latest WIP, I plan on changing up the drums a lot and obviously adding a lot more to the song but it's not finished yet ^^ Tell me what ya think anyway, I've only spent about an hour or so on it

Even with my other track "Derpstep" the original mix down was so jammed with BLAAAH!!! That's one thing I need to work on, is making the track sound full, without it being jammed, and giving the other instruments room to breath... I for sure need to lower the sub bass, but it's hard to hear on these crap SteelSeries cans.. They make my Scarlett 2i2 look bad :3.. I also need to fix the vocal sync, cause I have 2 tracks, clean, and reversed... And I need to turn the high hats down, and make the lead synth more noticeable, cause you can't even hear the lead.. Thanks for the feedback, it means a lot to me /)

@Cubicle: Thanks for the feedback. Did you mean the overall low end of the song? Or the low end of the lead or sub, specifically?

Your WIP: Great intro. Mix and sound selection is spot on. The only thing I would change is the bass choice, and the progression of the bass. All the pads and synths are great. Just wasn't feeling the bass.

@JimBeaux: Thanks for the feedback. I'll work on the thin bass.

Your WIP: Dark and heavy. Almost ready for some rapping over it. Overall sound is nice. Maybe some variation throughout, but vocals would fill it out as well.

Hello, I've only been writing for a month so i would refrain from commenting in other peoples tracks as i don't really know enough to be constructively critical. Jealous of most of the work i see on here tbh.

@DJRaynes - Beats sound awesome but the track does sound rather spacious and empty.

@Lightshapper - really liek teh feel of that first track, burning, maybe drop another synth in there for the high part of teh mellody.

@Smor3s - nice sounding warth to the track, me likey!

It would be great to get some feedback on this track i'm in the process of making (BANG YOUR GRAN), sounds a bit choppy at the moment and some of the fills need to be played in adifferent note or pitch :6: , really trying to get the sidechaining thing under control in this track but it sounds a bit off.

@Vader340mk2: Thanks bro! I am glad everyone is liking my work! There is a lot of great talent on this forum, and I feel so much better sharing my work with you guys.. HIGH HOOF /)

@Cubicle: Nice track bro.. Call me crazy, but I was watching your avatar, thinking it could be a stage theme for Street Fighter :3.. I am always a sucker for that melodic, high synth lead crap! /) good job! I just feel the sub bass levels, could be brought up a bit, to give the lead some thickness...

Thank you for the feedback or praise from some of the posters. I'm trying to give the track more driving energy by raising the volume of the high hats, among other things. New WIP to be posted soon.
