@Jimbeaux - Liking this quite a lot actually man, wasn't sure if I would or not, all I would say is make that snare a bit more punchy, seems like it has no high end right now as do some of the synths, it needs to be more 'rich' haha

@SMOR3S - Liking this a lot man, sounding well produced as well! Not sure what to say otherwise, sounding pretty dope, try adding some more variation perhaps

Here's my latest WIP, I plan on changing up the drums a lot and obviously adding a lot more to the song but it's not finished yet ^^ Tell me what ya think anyway, I've only spent about an hour or so on it

Am I invisible? :6:
Sorry, :3

@VirusTI: I really like the chill step feel, even though it's a lot filthier than chill step... I am more of a house artist, so I tip my hat to anyone, that can modulate basslines :3

lightshapers: when you said that the sub sounds weighty do you mean that its overpowering/louder than it should be? Just trying to get an idea of what I should fix.

Cubicle: 'tis a shame about the note progression does it sound out of key or do you just not like it? and yeah that's the scanner vibrato, I was thinking the same thing the more I listened to it.

Also thanks to jetpack, Nokko, lightshapers, and jimbeaux for the feedback, it's greatly appreciated!

VirusTI - only complaint here is the repetitive nature. like the dude said, hihats/shakers should be coming in 8 bars after the drop. good idea though. snare is a little tooo crisp, try combining it with a hi hat like districts new painting the mind track. i think that would be perfect for this tune. also beef up that synth, you have a cool pattern going but it needs more oomph. not too much oomph though don't make it all squealy brostep status.

lightshapers - I actually like this one quite a bit, as suggested take some edge off the pads and other synths in general. they drown out the rest of the percussive bits you've sprinkled everywhere. i like the nero-esque synth you added at the end and the clipped vocals. nice work!

vader - those high frequency noises are seriously ear bleed status. decent track otherwise but damn man, at least show that a little bit of EQ love lol. i'm glad i don't have monitors or headphones on blast right now i would probably be having a seizure.

this one i've been working on for a minute, next i'm going to add some more variation in the melodies but i like what i have going so far. unmixed/mastered as you can see with the atrocious waveform. first time working with reesey bass sounds. hope to be able to modulate them on a chestplate level someday haha. c&c greatly appreciated!

@difference: WOW bro, you really need to give me them bongo samples :3. I love how they are panned, and the backing voice/atmosphere thing, really gives the track, that mid eastern, african/jungle feel.. I don't know what genre you were going for, but I feel this is some good chill step.. I would love to listen to the final mastered version ^__^.. Good.... morning, car ride music /)

Here is an updated version of my new track I am working on:

Soundcloud

I feel the sub bass really saturates the lead bassline, in a bad way, idk.. I can't wait till I get my new cans, cause I can't really tell on these ones.. I also need to make the intro pop a bit more.. I added some ocean fx, and white noise, to fill the track in a bit, but it still feels a bit empty...

The drop is my main concern also.. Idk if I should go for a smooth flowy, build up, with some what tension, or a kick pattern, like I have already, into a small synth lead, and double clap...

Thanks for all of your previous feedback! /)

@SMOR3S: Nice drop. The intro lacked any excitement for the drop for me. I like the vocals, but the main reverse takes me out of the song a bit. Maybe pick parts to not have any vocals.

@difference: Really digging it. Nice modulation and bass design. Sounds mixed properly. Maybe add a different bass variation for a half bar every once in a while to take it to another level.

@Vader340mk2: Heavy tune, man. Nice bass work and drums, but the pad stood out and didn't fit, in my opinion. Try a higher register pad with your lower one.

Updated WIP "Out of Focus" 100 BPM

How's the sub sounding on other peoples systems? I want it to hit, but not be overpowering.

@jetpack: The high end sounds good, nice and crisp, and the sub, has a nice low end /)

What do you suggest for my intro? Any advice will be appreciate :3

Maybe add a high pass filter on the drums that builds up to the drop. The intro seems drug out, try shortening it. Also, try introducing the drums one at a time with the kick added last. Helps build anticipation.

Thnks for the reply.

@Difference - nice one. i found out i had the high end turned up on the eq for the modulated bass. Well spotted and deffinately makes a difference now.

@Jetpack - Genius!! I just did what you said with the pad and i think it sounds a lot more eerie now and kinda fills out the drop too!!

Thank you both, that was great advice. :P

I added a cheeky sample to the ammended track below, if you can have another quick listen :P

Sounds good, man! Add a drawn out, reverbed crash at the drop, too. Give it more emphasis.

@Jetpack - Cheers, I did that too and it does drop better now, thanks.

you should call yourself the professor, or the scientist.

Your wip is very catchy, i could see it being very popular with the masses. I wish i could get my kick drum to sit right on top like that, been trying to work sidechaining in fl stidio all day and still can't get it quite right.

@Difference - love the track, i especially like the break for the ride cymbol in the intro, very fun tune.

Glad it helped. For the kick in "Out of Focus" I low cut 2 identical, beefy kicks at 68-70 hz with a steep curve. I boosted 108-110 hz by 4dbs and 2500 and 3500hz by 4.5dbs. Slight default compression and limited to -5db. Also, I do not sidechain at all, unless it's for the effect.

@Jetpack: Could you show me an example of what you meant by "Maybe add a high pass filter on the drums that builds up to the drop. The intro seems drug out, try shortening it. Also, try introducing the drums one at a time with the kick added last. Helps build anticipation."

Not the best example...but from 1:28 - 1:50 High passed drums, building up with a kick riser into the drop.

See, I am not much of a snare/kick build up type of guy... My track, in my sig, just has a flowy smooth lead in, kind of like this:

You're song, you're call. Whatever you feel. But one thing is the drop of your song sounds like it's a half beat off. It's dropping on the "and" of beat 4, rather than the drop of beat 1 of the next measure.

@Jetpack: Love your song and the beat, but I feel it's a little repetitive at times. You lost me around 1:37 but I started to get drawn back in when the ill came back in at the change up, maybe add in something small there or shorten it slightly so it's less of the same loops.

@Smore's Cool tune, I'm actually having the same problem as you are intro troubles as they are the hardest.... try starting really strong and dropping it out right away, then ease us into the beat again.

@VirusTI: It's got a great start but I feel it's lacking in a little bit of energy. Maybe try beefing it up at parts that seem too drowned-out. I do like a good relaxing tune but I feel there's no meat to it, just simply Air.

Constructive criticism is what I'm looking for. I'm only a couple months in so don't expect anything super special. I'm looking for ideas, or better samples pass me times that sounded off or weird. I'm sort of a housey/trance/Bass'y kinda guy.

Nevermind success on Embedding. Soundcloud
Nevalo - i gave my copy of SKREAM! to my mom..... bitch never gave it back
