Noise Problem!

Post by Hakala » Fri Aug 31, 2012 2:41 pm

When I'm recording, I can hear a slight noise in the background of everything.
At first I thought it was the mic (It's a DIY) but then I tested it when the mic was off (still plugged in though) and the noise was still there.
Then I recorded the silence again with the mic unplugged, this time it was a different noise.
Here's how it sounds: Soundcloud
The first one is with the mic plugged in.

Do anyone know how this can be solved?

without being able to hear the soundcloud link, it might be your cables try swapping them..if not it might be the connections

 That's the exact first thing I thought. Record as many variations of these noises and upload!

What's the mic plugged into? Just audio interface w/ preamps? I've been dealing with a lot of noise lately, recording devices, etc...seems like all devices seem to have their own noise floor that you can't do anything or much about. I haven't been able to find a good answer on whether or not I should spend hundreds of dollars on good cables.
