I really don't want to keep this thread going, but to be honest that doesn't actually make it any less of a gimmick tbh.

Gimmick
Noun
an ingenious or novel device, scheme, or stratagem, especially one designed to attract attention or increase appeal.
:z:

not that there's even anything inherently wrong with it... but come on, what is this, masked mc #769? especially with the popularity of doom... come up with something more original at least

yeah. just seemed to me like it was being used as a way to level criticism against the music rather than addressing the music itself. I suppose you could use it in that way (e.g there's not enough substance to the music so he needs a gimmick) but I don't really feel that him wearing a mask is a particularly big factor in the people who do like him enjoying his music.

edit: this thread should probably be deleted. there's nothing to be gained from it. I didn't intend to cause an argument. apologies.

southern hip hop's been around since the late 80's, I believe. trap's just a name that people associate with a certain style that's popular at the moment. the machine gun hi-hats etc

Well I know southern hip hop is old, but I'm speaking specifically about the saturation of 808 beats by white kids. That's what trap is.

The other stuff is Rap.

CAS is a Don and was around at the start of Grime. Every Grime Artist rates Castro as one of the best. His lyrics are the deepest and most insightful and make everyone else look fucking stupid. Big H is a caricature and a kid next to this guy and two don't even compare.

Chemist is one of the biggest grime tracks of all fucking time ffs.

Anyone who knows anything is on this guy, this forum is fucking garbage no one knows fuck all about anything I'm out
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.
