Logic9 wavs with tempo info - sample rate conversion, pitch?

Post by Siquan » Thu Sep 06, 2012 11:24 pm

Recently something changed.

I have a couple loopmasters samplepacks that have wavs with tempo information in them.

I have made a couple songs with them already, they worked as expected.

Now for some reason when i drag one of these, wavs and only these, other 24bit and 16bit 44,1 and 44,8 non tempo wavs work fine, into the project they get pitched up by a few semitones.

The manual references stereo split wavs exclusively as far as any special wav files.

What i found about the sample rate settings basically just showed me where settings could be changed not how to trouble shoot this issue.

I have tried every combo of audio preference changes i can...im fairly certain.

I feel like i have ruled out sample rate but its the only thing i can think of that could be the problem outside of some rando import setting i dont know about that has changed.

Any help with understanding if those behavior sounds like sample rate conversion to you and of course solutions would be great, im stumped.

Sounds like you have the wav files attached to a tempo and a different tempo in your project. See if you can either change the import settings so it doesn't adjust the length of the sample for the tempo you're using when you import it. I can't see how it would be a sample rate thing, tempo/time-stretching seems like your most likely problem.

Also, that post was a bitch to read.

^ what about the pitch? the tempo and stretching work fine. i will see if i can find a tempo/stretch setting that may be affecting the pitch. I went straight for the sample rate only because i know sometimes problems with that will lead to weird problems on playback, i thought i had heard pitching could be an outcome.

wait so i dont get your post? if you put an audio file into a logic project, with a different sample rate to the project, then it will play at a different pitch. 44.1 played with a 48 will bi pithced up and 48 at 44.1 will be pitched down.

^ the wavs from the loopmasters pack are 44.1, the project is set to 44.1. i drag the files into the arrange they are pitched up. All other wavs work fine. The issue is only with wavs that have time information in them, the loopmasters samples. I have tried changing to 48 in my settings, still pitches up.

i may be off base and it may not be the sample rate, i figured it was, because i know different rates will affect the audio, i am not positive how but i thought it can affect pitch. perhaps it is something else, but ive looked in the manual and in help. I switched alot of settings while toruble shooting and nothing is working. im at a loss and i swear im not a complete idot with this shit.

Thanks for the replies, ill keep diggin around.

I've had this.

Couldn't solve it for the life of me, so I converted the sample using another app and imported it into Logic.

Seems to be a conflict with sample rate and pitch on wavs with tempo info that aren't apple loops.

Thaks everyone for the replies, i was getting pretty frustrated and frantic there. It was one of those days i had been thinking about making beats all day and this problem threw me for a loop there, killed all the inspiration.

Aren't they acidized? If so they will change to whatever key your tune is in if I remember correctly :6:
