The Tunnel is the only tune on the album that imo doesn't deserve to be there. It sticks out like a sore thumb.
id agree. i like the tunnel but it just doesnt fit with the album. my favourite track is changuito, or maybe noches suenos for that amazing break with the pads
Soundcloud
Releasing later on Big Iron

Agree with people who reckon the Tunnel doesn't fit, when I first heard that tune I was quite disappointed and was hoping the rest of the album wouldn't be like that. Luckily it wasn't and all the other tunes are sick as hell so that all worked out for the best

I think it breaks the album up nicely, in a way into 2 parts.

First listen to the LP now.
Mulata. Oh my dilly dally days. This is some brutal cuban bladerunner shit.
Who's gonna be the first to mix Pinch - The Boxer into Ghost

Am I the only one in this whole thread who actually LIKES the tunnel?

Same here, I love it in fact. Actually I think I take back even saying it sounded a bit-of-the-mill having listened a couple more times, it's an incredible tune

Lot's of Mala tunes take a while to grow on me, then one day it just clicks!

agree witcha there

a lot of his 12" singles from back in the day I had to listen to at least 20 or 30 times before I liked them
and then I REALLY liked them
but then again, all of his mala in cuba stuff, level nine, alicia, in luv, and plenty of other stuff just hits me right away as

Change is definitely my favorite.
But my second favorite, is one that I haven't seen anyone mention. Como Como, those chord changes are so on point. I generally hate lyrics, but since I honestly don't understand what the fuck he's saying, his vocals register in my head as more of an instrument than lyrics.

I'm currently listening to my FLAC copy and loving it. I don't get the point of these tiny limited vinyl releases, just seems to cause a whole lot of stress for fans and doesn't really achieve much.

Mine arrived yesterday, what a package!
Agree that the Tunnel seems a little out of place but I think it's going to be a grower! Love the aesthetics of the collection as well!

My box set arrived today. It has exceeded my expectations. A truly transcendent work. Stand out tracks (though there isn't a bad track on the album) were definitely Ghost and Change. And Noches Sueños is unreal. If I had to pick a weakest track I'd say The Tourist, it's a nice song, just didn't do quite as much for me as the others on there.
Brilliant packaging too, great liner notes from Blackdown. And it's nice that there's enough space in the box for the Cuba Electronic 12" haha

I thought that was the point to make it the full box set.

Yeah it says on the notes inside that the Cuba Electronic 12" completes the box set... so naturally I had to order myself a copy to put in the box!

Should arrive tomorrow

Girl in Sounds of the Universe told me yesterday this is definitely coming back in but not as a box, means it will be cheaper though!!
