Senheisser HD 212 Pro go down to 12Hz which is good for something like dubstep. They are not flat by pro monitoring standards, but they key is listening to shitloads of music on them (as many of us tend to do with headphones, at work, going for a walk, in the train etc) to the point where you just know what they are suposed to sound like. You will know when it's time to get descent monitors and sound card, because you will be good enough to know that its holding you back.
bollocks buy £20,000 Monitors it's the only way your music will sound good

is this true?

can somebody confirm?

Probably best spending about £100 or less on a keyboard and about £200+ on Speakers

Keyboard wise

anything by Novation

Speakers

there are loads of good deals on www.turnkey.co.uk personally i would go for the Tannoy Reveals with about £200 having had a good listen to them

What's your soundcard?
Yeah, the tannoys are good I use them and they seem to stand up to what i throw at em. I'd also go for a novation if you can strech to it.

ive got sum edirol active monitors which only cost 100 odd and suprisingly aint felt the need to upgrade, got a really nice flat responce, actually better than a few more expensive pairs some of my mates got. although to make better tunes i wud recommend a better sequencer, such as cubase or logic, and some good plugins (although these you can get for free from some dodgy places, which i dont advocate but u know) anyway its completely up to u and depends wt u think about ur work needs improving. key to most tho is the mixdown which needs good monitoring to do, even a shit tune can sound shit hot with a good mix!

Surely it'll just sound like a shit tune that has been well produced. And there is a fair amount of those knocking about. :?
