Maschine & Dubstep Tunes

Sorry if this thread has been done before but im just looking for some tips. I recently got a maschine mikro and im wondering if its a valid tool for making dubstep tunes, i usally use logic with a m audio keyboard thingy and i was just trying diffrent things out, what i will probs do is go back to logic for my dubstep type tunes and for hip hop stuff use the maschine.

I'm brand new to maschine so i'm not exactly sure what its capable of mean like the synth parts the maschine doesn't have many keys, the beat is easy because its much better than doing it on a keyboard im just going to stick to using logic until i get more used to maschine.

thats what im trying to do, im just going to forget about dubstep and make something completely different. Also can maschine be used as a daw.

I only use Maschine and Reaktor (plus a million ensembles)
I think its a great instrument for dubstep. The sampler init is the best Ive eve used,everything can be done live. Use the fucck out of it man.

Maschine is an amazing piece of kit. It's pretty much capable of creating what ever you want... The only thing that would stop you from that is you! I certainly wouldn't ring fence it and say you would only make a certain genre with it... As mentioned above experiment with it and make it your own.

I suppose each their own, but just being able to tap out beats on the pads is a hugely rewarding experience after drawing in drum hits for so long.

I got drunk and ordered the maschine mikro and the kontrol f1 last night (yeah, I know....) so it'll probably show up in the mail soon. Looking forward to seeing what I can do with it. Intending to use the maschine mainly as a sampler inside my DAW to get the creativity going (vocal slicing, maybe resampling some basses) etc and then playing it to get a feel for the song, maybe even for the drums if I need to get some swing going. Should be good.

Kinda regretting that I didn't go all out and order a midi-keyboard too though...

the sampler is the best part IMO. its freakin gigantic, i found out how to pan through the sampler options by mistake and never looked back. On top of the huge sampler you get so many effect channels its retarded. I traded in my mapex custom series kit in at guitar center and bought the maschine just to keep making music in some way. fuckin love that damn thing, the new 1.8 update is coming with integrated Massive for free, I use Reaktor, but have always wanted to use massive. I really like the NI company, they make awesome stuff.

Haha thats awesome. Kind of unfortunate but I don't think you'll regret it.
I love my machine, so bummed that I didn't wait a few months and get the MK II with pitch and time shift, would have been a really nice feature to have.
One of the first things I made with my machine was a dubstep tune. Its really well suited to any kind of production, you just have to figure it out.
Whenever I'm using mine I feel like I'm using a full featured DAW, there are so many things you can do with it.
I think I'll be using it for arranging and jamming things out, and Logic will be for groundwork, i.e. making samples or basslines to chop up, or sound design.

you can hook a midi controller with keys to it. its also a vst host. sequence inside and use the multiple outs to mix in a proper daw, best of both worlds.

i used to do that with records when i was living in a very uncivilized corner of the world. go to my local, get a bit drunk, order ~$150 of stuff from redeye on my phone. also how i ended up with my machinedrum. not a bad idea if you ask me. all about moderation.

i am still new on maschine. but i like it a lot. i see it as a good sketchpad, sampler, and sound designer. unfortunately it is a bit awkward for me when i run it as a plugin in cubase. might just take a bit more practice. 1.8 update will be very very good on numerous fronts.

disconnect from the internet, get a sixpack of decent beer, and fuck with it for as long as you can stand. it is really good at putting ideas together

Your going to get those features when 1.8 comes out. The only thing that's different ( for the most part) is more sensitive/colorful pads and a multi-function knob on the new hardware.

Yeah sometimes you just need that push man, it's not like imma starve. Looks like it wont arrive til after the weekend though, really looking forward to playing around with it.

I thought about getting the MK II but this was like 1/3 of the price so I figured this is still a great pickup. If we do get the updates in 1.8 that'd be sweet.

Yeah, I'm hoping it'll work well as a plugin since that's what I wanna be using it for. Don't think it'll be a problem though.

Getting off the internet can be really great sometimes, think I might do that when it arrives.
