Similarly, Emo kinda came from Hardcore originally, didn't it? Hardcore Punk is about moshpits, STDs and hitting each other in the mouth with bottles. For fun.

i don't want to comment on this girl but on emo generally...
emo nowadays is so far away from its roots. wasn't it originally "intended" to show a way other than the taking-over machoism in the hardcore scene? back in time when bands like the get up kids and jimmy eats world got too much media attention everything went down the drain (at least IMHO).

Yes good point.All music is emotional if you think about it.It doesn't have to mean anything to anybody else but yourself if it stems from an emotion.But a lot of emo kids toss on indie kids,even though basically a lot of thier music sounds exactly the same.That goes for pop punk(where the emo vocal harmonies come in) and hardcore(where the brash,macho stance comes in) as well,yet emos still segregate themselves from them too.It's kind of sad how it's classified as music when it's really a fashion.And at the same time the name is all the music is identified with,which cheapens the music,not the fashion.If I play an emo kid Sunny Day Real Estate and tell them it's emo,they would believe it was because someone said it was emo.But if I tell them they were a mid '90s SubPop band,chances are I get a query of,"Oh...you mean like grunge?Nirvana?Well...that's not EMO."And they'd be really snotty about it too.The irony is,they hate indie kids for the exact same behaviour!

When I was in art school back in the late 90's, at the tail end of the hardcore straightedge punk era (which was another joke all unto itself, them being probably the most closeminded people I ever witnessed), I saw my first glimpse of the indie rock/emo scene. At the time I was discovering the rave culture and hardcore scene after having been into hip hop for so long. As a tool, I labelled myself a hardcore kid back then. But soon realized that putting a label on myself was fucking retarded as I listened to all kinds of things and I never identified or fit into any cliques at all. Why put this stupid ass label on yourself? It is self limiting and will only close your mind to new ideas and ways of thinking, new culture. I'm not a raver, even though the majority of the music I listen to is electronic. I like metal and dare I say the Smiths, and yes, even good so called early emo bands like "Texas is the reason" and "Sunny day real estate." I refuse to identify with music labels like that. Although I guess I'm a hypocrite by saying I DJ. I can't really get away from some kind of label I guess, even saying you are a person is labelling. Uh well....

People hate emo kids because of that subculture's tendancy to glorify weakness. Sure it's great to be in touch with your emotions, but it's better to be in control of them, it's undignified to cry and get hysterical in public, it makes you look stupid. Nobody should dwell on the fact that we all feel emotional pain at some point in our lives. Also, all the emo's i've ever met have been people with no real problems.

Also, it's fine to hate emo kids. Being emo is a choice, being black or arabian or homosexual isn't. There's nothing wrong with criticizing people's dress sense or hairstyle or music taste. Also, why is she telling everyone to love eachother and then talking about hitting people who say they want emo's to die?

Also, emo music is pretty unemotional to my ears. I really can't identify with what some whining little rich kids with stupid hair have to say about anything. If I want something that evokes deep emotions i'll listen to Radiohead or Dead Can Dance or Tenhi or something, not fucking shit pop-punk with some over-privileged asshole crying about some woman who probably left him for a guy with some balls.

I really hope someone plays that vid back to her when she's about 25 hahaha

Emo believe it or not was originally a term to describe the emotional hardcore scene that grew from the ashes of u.s. hardcore punk in the 80's. Quite some credible and profound music was produced from this scene but it has since been hijacked by face-painted public school kids who play pop music.
