First "real" tune, critiques MUCH appreciated. Thank You!

Post by RATCUB » Mon Sep 17, 2012 5:36 am

Heres something I've worked on for quite a bit, not necessarily the type of music Im looking to make in the long term but definitely wanted to take a crack at it and having only been producing for 9ish months this is as far as I've come. (Sad, I know)

The mastering is terrible as that is something I've yet to really wrap my brain around, and the EQ is also terrible. Its definitely obvious Im new. No loops or sample packs were used, everything is 100% me except for some massive patches I found and manipulated.

I might work on this more depending on the feedback I receive but I'm mainly looking to use this as a learning experience and springboard for future songs. Thank you so much for looking.

That Hi-Hat has got to come down for sure. Also how do you have things panned? Seems like everything is coming from the middle of the mix. @ 1:32 I think the Kick is distorting the mix a little bit possibly becuz its over the wobbles. This could have been the effect you were going for but I wasn't sure. All around a good track, just needs mixing on the drums (levels) and possibly some more panning on the instruments to give it a "Fuller" sound. Just my two cents man. Keep doing what youre doing.

I like the jam for sure. to me the snare is a bit loud but the wobbles are really great.
Keep working at it if you enjoy making this type of music.. I will be putting up my first song soon and would like to hear your feedback

Yea things definitely need to be EQ better but I don't know how to go a out doing that, which is why I posted it here. I'm hoping someone can tell me how to make this sound more presentable.
