I just feel like there could be more in the intro, like some strings playing the chords, just something constant I think, filling out the space between the main melody.JicloTutorials wrote:thanks man! wanna expand on what you think needs improvement?blinkesko wrote:Damn Jiclo, that was pretty awesome IMO. Could maybe do with a tad more work, but it was pretty dope. Good job, man

But fuck man, I've listened to it like 10 times or so now, it's so good haha. The tempo switch was just perfect dude.
before you do any EQ automating, try to have the growl have a pretty even spectrum, except with higher 1-3khz content and maybe some 100-300 hz phatness. i usually cut at 500-1000hz. sounds good.
THEN, once you have enough harmonic content, use an EQ and automate from 50~100 to 600-1000hz with a 10-15 db bell boost with Q of your choice.
then id probably continue EQ shaping it, parallel processing it with stuff like vintage exciter, psp vintagewarmer or even noveltech character (which is fucking amazing for shaping bass and lead sounds)
and resampling until it sounds good.

Well then I'm doing it right. I guess I expected an easier method, but there really isn't. Thanks for the help.

Where abouts would you EQ the parallel channel?Italus wrote:Too lazy to upload...JicloTutorials wrote:lets hear itItalus wrote:before you do any EQ automating, try to have the growl have a pretty even spectrum, except with higher 1-3khz content and maybe some 100-300 hz phatness. i usually cut at 500-1000hz. sounds good.

Can I check out the patch?mromgwtf wrote:Soundcloud
Zero processing. Only massive. Only square-saw 1 wave.
Soundcloud version is shit. Here's hi-quality version:

i see in the fx chain your using a bifilter.. just curious as to what sorta filter its using/how your modulating is (if you are)..Huts wrote:http://i.imgur.com/wuygF.pngItalus wrote:The hardest part of making a growl sound good is EQ. I made a reese and have 2 notch filters controlled by 2 different LFO's automating constantly. I then used the bandpass filter to get the movement then used the EQ/Overdrive/Exciter to bring out the high's that got pretty muffled by the filter then tossed a spreader on there for some stereo effect (better heard through headphones). Pretty sure it was just 1 note held down as welldotcurrency wrote:Huts wrote: 15dB BandPass filter with some random automation drawn in. this is one of the sounds that Soundcloud
mind sharing some tips or something on how you got it to growl like that? That's pretty much the exact kind of growl I'm trying to achieve here.
