and sometimes people do "mental" things to exes who are the REAL mental ones and who were seriously abusive but have managed to make it seem to everyone that their victim is crazy... and eventually, that comes true. have even thought it myself of people who couldn't let it go when i didn't know the real extent of things that have happened.

anyways its possible for these people to get help and get better. it's really shit being on the receiving end of something you didn't start, and you dont have an obligation to help people you know that are in these shitty places. usually it's impossible for you to help that person given all the baggage and the need to keep yourself sane and live your own life. they need professional help often. but i can't help feeling deep sympathy for them.
Ok, maybe using the word 'mental' in that context was a tad insensitive given that she did actually have pretty serious mental health issues and has spent about a month in a mental health clinic... That said, when finding an ex hding in your garden your first thought isn't usually "I feel sorry for her, must be a really bad situation she's in", it's "fuck me, that's absolutely bloody mental!"

Didn't really see the relevance of the spousal abuse bit though and tbh SHE actually used to hit ME all the fucking time, i once got punched in the nose because i refused to propose to her :corntard:

the power of love is one bad ass motherfucker.

it can make people do all sorts of crazy shit.. ESPECIALLY if they're hormonal.

does not mean they need help or have problems or underlying issues. some people just can't handle it.

nah i don't agree.

i know nuff people who've had happy lives all their life who are pulling mental shit 24/7.

9/10 it's because they're young and immature.
thats probably true but i still feel that way about the people who were. that said it's hard to make presumptions about what things have happened in people's lives because you can't always know.

definitely true that a lot of it is immaturity though. some people just dont know how to behave & there's not a lot of model behaviour about in popular culture

remaining with someone solely because they're unstable does noone any good imo. If they need help, they need help...I'm not a 'look after number 1 only' kinda person, but short of going and studying various strains of psychology, not a lot you can do is ACTUALLY going to help them. If you can't love them, don't pretend to for their sake.

IMO.

You could pay random members of the public to walk up to them during the course of the day and say things like "This is a dream", "Nothing is what it seems" and "Wake up".

Then set all the clocks in their house to exactly 3:27pm and take the batteries out.

well it was a general post, i wasn't suggesting anyone in here had actually abused the exes they were talking about, sorry if anyone thought i was accusing them of anything. just talking from my experience with one or two of the people i know... violence begets violence. crazy begets crazy... have even begun thinking about some of the abusive people i've known and where its come from, one of them is a refugee and i can't even imagine what sort of things they must have been through before they left? idk. another thing is reading about like 3rd generation holocaust victims and how the memories of the things that happened and their associated traumatic effects and behaviours have been passed down etc.

anyway i'm not trying to fight or anything, but it's a bit of a sticky issue for me so just giving my thoughts. abuse is fucking shit and complicated but you NEVER have to put up with it no matter how ill the person is. understanding doesn't mean tolerating. another Lesson I Have Learnt.

I'm sure 16yr old me was more of a dick in general than 30yr old me.

If me now met me then I'd give me such a kicking...although I would praise me on my musical choices thus far.

Wouldn't everything that occurs as a result of growing older be considered a change/growth?

Thats what I meant!
Its 5 hours long apparently sooooo thats £30 with postage (might as well get something to show for it) flying out of my account :corncry:

Still trying to shift £60s worth of tickets (3) to Moodymann/kode9/hudmo etc on the 13th of october due to me not checking my dates properly.
The logic that "oh well if I cant make it I can just sell them on" is doing me over.

Also I do appreciate that it is actually cheap in the grand scheme of things as my mrs has to pay some obsense amount of money to see people like Florence and the machine, like £45 a ticket for two hours! sod that!
