But in seriousness to all the advice, as much of a "whiny tnuc" I am I'm just gonna go to biome, get some snaps, and chat to the promoters about what my set times are gonna be like. If I see her there with some guy and she's on drugs (her drug abuse ruined our relationship so it's a big deal) I'm just gonna step up and ignore it to the best of my ability. It's not like I've been celibate since her anyway

Sorry to moan about such pathetic shit :i:

It's only pathetic shit if you're pathetic about it. Everyone goes through breakups and most of us have to see the ex's again at some point... I live with an ex of mine (we were together about 6 years, lived together for 2 months, split up and have now lived together 6 more years as friends), so our breakup included both of us having to come to terms with the other moving on and fucking/falling for new people.

It destroyed me for a while, but I'm a much, much better person for having been through it... I see all that as growing pains now; it was what was needed to force me into a properly independent existance... to look after my own destiny and to chase my own dreams rather than someone else's. I wouldn't be me if I hadn't walked the path I walked... and I'm fucking awesome (noMizz), so it must have been a good path.

So yeah, go out and do you with absolutely no compromise... that's what you're on Earth to do... be YOU; confront her new existance if you have to, but try and realise that the fact she's draping herself over some other guy is a GOOD thing... with any luck she'll find a steady new boyfriend and stop giving you hassle. If you cared about her at any point, then seeing her moving towards happiness should also be considered a good thing.

I see Emma as a sister now. I'd ride for her til my last breath and I'm sure she'd do the same, but we made absolutely the right choice and we've never even accidentally thought about getting back together... we were wrong for each other so splitting up was a positive move for both of us. It'd feel properly weird these days... I almost can't believe I ever thought it was a good idea to put my thingy in her wotsit.

Just pay attention to looking after yourself for a bit... honestly, being in close contact with a recent breakup is probably the hardest thing I've ever done, so you have my full understanding... you've just gotta grit your teeth, make the choice and get through it... somehow. Take up a couple of new hobbies... try and re-ignite the flame to something you were passionate about before the relationship... you'll find your centre pretty quickly, you seem pretty level headed and thoughtful. The problem with being in a serious relationship for ages is that your 'core' starts to feel like it's somewhere in between the two of you... it only ever really works if you each have a solid core of personality to exert some gravity on the relationship... the best couples orbit each other forever expending no energy in the process, the worst just keep smashing into each other... both parties end up worn out, unhappy and emotionally shattered.

I'd genuinely rather be single than be in a couple of the relationships I've had in the past. I got really comfortable being single actually... it sounds daft, but it's kind of empowering if you've spent a lot of your grown-up life in and out of serious relationships like I had.
