(Ableton) Theres a few ms delay on samples

Post by MassAphekt » Tue Sep 25, 2012 8:31 pm

I noticed whenever I re sample or even just have a midi track going, there appears to be a a noticeable amount of delay (Ive also checked the track delay option to see if its on and its not), this sucks because I like my sounds to be on point with my drums but this obviously creates a uneven beat, I tried reinstalling and cleaning everything, even updated my drivers but it still has a delayed effect, obviously I can just move that back a few ms to its starting point but who wants to do that to ALL of your sounds? I have a legit copy of ableton and everything, Ive also noticed that whenever my basses have a 3rd party vst in its effect it delays the midi/resample by like 1/64 or 1/32, its so annoying and was wondering if anyone has had this same problem?

Play around with the buffer time and some other settings in the preferences, check if the hard drive you're running the audio clips off of is close to capacity, play the the audio clip settings, turn on HI-Q, turn off/on RAM mode, turn off warp. If none of those work I'm not sure what to tell you.

I get the same thing when I bounce to audio in FL sometimes, if I leave it in the playlist it's slightly behind the MIDI. Probably the same thing, dunno why though.

Also try to see if you're running with any latency compensation. I don't know if ableton automatically compensates for plug in delay, but you should try to turn that on.

Is it the midi information itself that is delayed, or is when you drum in them with a controller?
Burial isnt dubstep, fuck off.

The midi information is hard to tell in real time but whenever I render it, its render with almost 1/64th of a bar delay. Also when I have instrument racks with a top synth thats heavily processed and then a secondary for sub, there is a noticeable delay of the top because you can hear the sub hitting first, it doesn't sound good at all. Its so frustrating. I wish my workflow didn't involve a ton of repetitive creative depleting procedures just to get everything sounding right. lol
But I've tried everybody's suggestion and will give it a test run with something new tonight, see if happens again. thanks for the tips :t:

Google ableton PDC, plugin delay compensation.

You said it happens with 3rd party VSts and thats what PDC's for, ive never experienced that problem myself but try that bro

In my experience, using ASIO causes nothing but problems and processing spikes so you might want to consider trying your default one instead to see how that works.

Disregard everything man, it's that cracked ableton for sure. Even though it seems like it's working now and you probably think you've paid for it you're wrong and your song will eventually turn to shit unless you pay a bunch of money, right away. Make sure to buy Massive and at least two legit copies of Windows 7 as well just to be safe. And then turn yourself over to the police for being such a horrible human being.

exaggerated extrapolation.

i wasn't coming down on anyone (even the pros use some cracked software), but literally 99% of the time, the "problems" people have with ableton are just because they're using glitchy cracked versions.
