Re: United States Presidential Election 2012
there was that thing where someone from his campaign thought having a bad guy called Bane in TDKR was a shot at Romneydeadly habit wrote: mitt romney fits the comic book world better than the real world
maybe he was right? maybe Romney really is a comic book villain
Re: United States Presidential Election 2012
i don't read comics so i don't know the exact date but I know for a fact Bane the villain has existed for over ten years in the batman saga, because i watched The Animated Series as a kid and Bane was all over that cartoon
Re: United States Presidential Election 2012
And it was at that time that mittens was dismantling the American economy's infrastructure.
Coincidence?

Re: United States Presidential Election 2012
I guess the quotes are to denote sarcasm or how some people view him, but that guy is definitely not pro-choice or progressive. He's more pro-his-choice than anything. The stuff he speaks in support of is backwards 1950s. I've never heard Obama say much of anything socialist really, I don't know where the right gets that shit from. They'd probably stone me if they heard my political ideals lol.Genevieve wrote:Romney's a petty distraction. He's not a superconservative hawk with the chance to win. He's the 'progressive pro-choice Republican from Massachusetts'.
... a fascist with socialist talk is gonna win the presidency again...
Re: United States Presidential Election 2012
lol yeah please give examples of Obama saying anything remotely socialist. I guess I missed the part where he called for the workers to seize the factories.

Mitt Romney was certainly not the only vulture capitalist operating around that time.nowaysj wrote:And it was at that time that mittens was dismantling the American economy's infrastructure.

Part of the problem too is that [mainly conservative & ignorant] Amurikans call anything that they don't like 'Socialist' without knowing what the hell they're talking about. Speed limits are socialist in the sense that they're government mandated for the common good but you don't sea Teabaggers denouncing them left and right...SCope13 wrote:lol yeah please give examples of Obama saying anything remotely socialist. He's fucking CLAY. He doesn't believe ANYTHING. He's the mouth piece that is supposed to to appeal to the pseudo-capitalist hawks. He's neither progressive nor conservative.
And should've said 'pseudo-socialist', just like Romney is 'pseudo-capitalist'. They both believe in a centrally planned economy that merges government power with corporations. AKA fascism. Obama just pretends to be anti-business and pro-worker (well to the point that standard Americans can swallow it) just like Romney pretends to be free market (..uhh, end the fed? wut? r u krazi?)
Romney is a hawk as much as Obama is anti-militarism and against bombing brown people. And word, y'all believe that Obama does everything he can to stop American empirialism :'0 (except for signing an executive order to bring all the troops home as fast as he can.. that's the only real power he does have... but doesn't use, gee I wonder why).
Romney wouldn't be worse than Obama, because no matter who's the commander in chief, they all take their marching order from wallstreet and the military industrial complex. There is no 'lesser of two evils'. Both 'evils' are paid for and bought by the same corporations.

Please tell me, what's American conservatism and name a couple of conservatives? What is its ideological foundation?alphacat wrote:Part of the problem too is that [mainly conservative & ignorant] Amurikans call anything that they don't like 'Socialist' without knowing what the hell they're talking about. O, I totally agree Gene, Obama is fucking authoritarian douche bag, but I would take him over Romney. Doesn't matter though cuz I'm voting for Stein.

I'm just fucking sick and tired how easily people make excuses for Democratic presidents and how they look for the teensiest little thing that they claim makes them 'better' than those evul "conservative" republikuntz. And god, what's with bringing Jesus into everything? Fucking Republicans.. oh no wait, while in office, Clinton was the president who invoked his christianity the most out of any American president. Nevurmind.
They're both the same party. They're both bloodthirsty sociopaths who hate humanity and only care abot power and their shareholders. On paper, like, side-by-side, Obama is WORSE than Bush. Killed more people, killed American civilians without due process, invaded more countries, stripped people of MORE civil liberties (NDAA?), CONTINUED the patriot act, Oh no wait, Obama is ok with gay marriage being a STATE ISSUE!.. ..The same position Dick Cheney held when HE was vice president. What a national treasure!
But people will make excuses for it. 'He does everything he can!!' Yeah, no. Clearly, no. Like I've been saying, he has the LEGAL AUTHORITY to END American imperialism. So no. He doesn't do everything he can. And he does a lot to expand it. 'yeah but Republicans would be WORSE!' Says who? He's been worse than Bush. So why would Republicans be even worde? What's the proof? Some sort of hunch? Bevause they claim to be hawks? Yeah, because Obama didn't claim to be more than he actually was to get votes or anything.
No. Fuck this. And fuck all apologists. They're all worthless, murderous psychopaths. Including the young hip Democrat. And ANYONE who makes excuses for Obama or Democrats is cocomplicit in America's bloodshed. Both parties are mouth pieces for the same violent cartel

Like my mom....fucking shit. Stereotypical liberal. I criticize Obama and she's says I'm being "too cynical". And that I shouldn't vote 3rd party because otherwise Romney could win. Lol yeah as if voting for one or the other fucking matters anyway.
Gene, me and you are very alike socially, just opposite ends of the spectrum economically.

Republicans would be worse because in addition to having the same shit foreign policy, they would also fuck up social policy and public services. It's still a less of two evils scenario, but there IS a difference.Genevieve wrote:I'm just fucking sick and tired how easily people make excuses for Democratic presidents and how they look for the teensiest little thing that they claim makes them 'better' than those evul "conservative" republikuntz. I make ANY Republican, bar let's say Ron Paul or Justin Amash, look like a bolshevik. So that argument, doesn't really change anything to me. And they're not out to kill ANY social safety nets. They don't give a shit.collige wrote:Republicans would be worse because in addition to having the same shit foreign policy, they would also fuck up social policy and public services. What type of social safety nets DID Obama create? Or keep in tact? Reagan was voted in to KILL the department of education, Republicans INCREASED it. Government interference and spending increased in the 80s by 60%. A lot of Republicans are responsible for these 'social services' that you claim they are against. Meanwhile, they're not 'public goods'. They're the marriage of corproate power and government, aka, signs of fascism.
You know why someone runs Republican or Democrat most of all? Because they think they can win in that party.
All these people care about at the end of the day, Republican OR Democrat, is getting more power and getting more money. They don't care if the little guy has a social safety net or not.
And if you care SO much about Dems or Repubs, start voting in local elections. State, city, whatever. THAT's where the only degree of influence is. A Republican president can't do SHIT with a Democratic house and vica versa. This is why the ONLY reason one should EVER vote for a president is foreign policy. Because that's where they have actual power. Or should have.
The other, if you're into that, would be something like drug policy and death penalty. The president can pardon criminals. Ron Paul for example, could've pardoned prisoners on death row and non-violent drug offenders (and woulda gotten all the troops home)
That's why I dislike people who are against Ron Paul on the basis of his (sound) economics. He couldn't have done ANY of the things the socialists or even some Democrats hated about him, but he could've done EVERYTHING they like about him. Whatever though.

Re: United States Presidential Election 2012
I don't care because I don't live in the USA.
Re: United States Presidential Election 2012
You do, actually, you just call it by another name.
Re: United States Presidential Election 2012
Yes Genevieve I've seen those Romney quotes before. Romney is a flip-flopper for the ages, one for the books. He has since started calling himself vehemently pro-life, since 2008 or so. I agree with what you're saying, but I think any president who ended the imperialism and shut down bases abroad, which I'm all for, would most likely be committing political suicide in the US, and it would get them shut down almost immediately one way or another. I'm sure Obama knows that, so he plays their game.
I've mentioned before how Obama is still far to the right of what I'm into, but what I also take into deep consideration between Obama vs Romney (or any of them really) is religion and attitude towards foreign countries, especially the middle east. Obama claims to be Christian, but I have my doubts on his sincerity. Not that I think he is Muslim or any of that conspiracy shit, but I think he's just playing the game again. The US majority won't stand for atheists in high office, and I don't necessarily think he's atheist, but he has had atheist family make an impact on his life, as well as Muslim family (and surroundings growing up) so at the very least he can empathise with more than just run of the mill American Christians. I think that's extremely important, especially in the 21st century. Not to mention Romney's Mormonism, which takes the crazy religious beliefs to new heights. One of my main concerns is people's religious beliefs having an influence on their decisions in office. That whole ''let jesus take the wheel' mindset. Like how most of the neocons want to be Israel's number 1 BFF because they think Jesus is going to come back to claim the land, and they want dibs on the rapture. That's the kind of stuff they have talked about, and honestly I find that scary.

Re: United States Presidential Election 2012
I'm fuckin shmammed, and I haven't read all the input,
But I have to agree 110% that the trajectory of
This country would not be significantly different between a Romney or Obama presidency. There is such a huge difference between what someone says, and what someone does. If you judge either candidate from what they say, you are a content apathetic. The substance of what either does is effectively the same. If you want change, become it yourself. You can't depend on a democratic poll to steer
The nation towards prosperity. Become enterprising, create your own narrative, let people benefit from it. That's the most you can do it seems.
It is appalling how far the GOP has gone to fuck themselves in the ass.
