Cheers, that's how i've been thinking really but i just really lack the confidence to tell people that i don't go to university and didn't want to go. Maybe when i sort some shit out i'll feel better about and have the confidence to tell people. I really never wanted to go to university anyway, even before i flopped my a-levels and probably would have dropped out regardless of where i went. I'm the youngest in my large extended family (asians bro) pretty much everyone who didn't do medicine is doing a mundane job unrelated to their degree and hating it, no matter if they went to wolverhampton or imperial. Hmm typing this out had me me a bit more motivated to not end up like them so i can be all "lol i dint even go to uni m8" hehehe. I don't really see the value apart from a few more years of being a child. Chin up.

when i see these people and friends who did well in their a-levels and went to red brick unis to do respected courses and think about how proud their parents must be it gets to me. and just how easy it was for all of them, and why the fuck i couldn't have just done it. i mean, it's not exactly hard. i'm not thick or academically incapable , nothing grabbed my attention and i just grew disillusioned by the system and societal pressures... but i'm not better off for it.

ive stopped telling myself it'll all work out in the end.

edit: fuck top post whining
Dude. I went to sixth form because I couldn't be arsed to work at 16. Didn't give a single fuck about A Levels, knew I didn't wanna go to uni at the end. Fucked around, worked part time at BHS, had fun, got a D & C at A2, and a D at AS level. Didn't know what I was gonna do until it happened really, had my last exam, applied for jobs, went to an interview, got it. All the people getting 3 A's at A2 level... where are they now? Working at the same shops they did before they went to uni. Me and my mate, both in similar brackets, he hardly turned up, and I might sound like a dickhead, but I know for a fact we're earning far far more than ANYBODY else that went to our college in our year, and we're both in respected positions within our companies.

Can't say it's massively fun, but it's a more than comfortable wage which means I'm able to do fun shit outside of work without worrying about whether this is eating into my food budget.

I'm guessing your experience was similar to mine. Nobody ever told you that there was any way other than uni or doing extra courses at college, nobody ever tells you that actually, you can piss around, stumble into something, get your head screwed on, be good at what you've got and have a great life/job. Age is on your side too.

Basically, fuck the world bro, find something and be good at it. Red brick uni can't teach you how to do that.
yea i ended up having the same discussion i end up having with anyone who didn't go to uni again today

'why did you go uni'

'cos, i didn't know what i wanted to do so i just went to uni'

'what did you do?'

'philosophy'

'what the fuck are you gona do with that'

'nothin'

'why did you do it?'

'THE EXPERIENCE'

lol

however, people use that as an example of why you dont need to go to uni, but there's a 100 reasons why uni is actually really valuable for people who aren't just stnuc about it like i was

its always the same, people cite examples of kids doing humanities courses and ending up working at Blockbuster Video's or something, no one ever goes 'Engineering?! what the fuck are you going to do with that?!'

uni has its purposes, its just maximising your gains from it, like with anything, you can leave school at 16 and work at mcdonalds for 30 years or you can leave school at 16 and work your way up in a company and make mega bucks. its about making and taking chances i suppose, and university is/should be a kick-start on your way

and this shit about going to uni and 'not knowing the real world' - people who go on about that can get fucked, i've worked so many jobs in my time and you get people who've only ever worked in one company, had one job and then think they're in a position to lecture you about 'the real world' cos you spent 3 years studying and getting fucked whilst they worked.

wow, ranty!

Everyone I know outside of my family has been to Uni, allways a fun time when I get asked "so what did you study?"

"ermmm life I guess  "

In the same boat just replace tesco with NHS.

university is real life, its not some magical dream land where everything is perfect and no one worries about a thing

the people who go to university and dont need to worry about money or anything else are the people who would have not gone to uni and not needed to worry about money or anything else

your life would be different if you didn't go, not more or less 'real'

not havin a go at you there sonika dont worry chap, just quoted you for truth

yeah more people need to realise this, uni aint some freeze frame snapshot you see in a brochure where all people do is drink and lay on grass smiling for 3 years plus

nah I gotcha, I havent gone so it's just speculation! It's just what I've heard, and that's the reason driving me to want to go to uni, not the academics as much necessarily

one group of 'mates' gettin onto me about sumat, basically jus lookin for somewhere to they can sleep tonight cos for whatever reason they cant stay where their meant to, which i wouldn't be arsed about if not for the fact that i never hear from them ever, n then they jus think they can call me up n be like 'yo can my mate [who i dont even really like] kip at yours after we go out cos he cant stay at mine for x,y,z...'

fuck off

next guy, callin me up cos he another load of mates have basically ditched him, lead him on a runaround and now aren't even nswerin their phone to him after he went n picked up a loada beers n a loada gear, n he's twisted n sniffed up n wants to come chill at mine n get fucked n basically unload on me at 2am

tbh any othr time i'd be like ye cool come round we'll chill but im stone cold sober, in bed, and have had next to no sleep since thursday and im not havin it, feel for the guy cos he's been done over n he feels mugged off n rightly so but fuck man, my stomach was in knots talkin to him on the phone n he's gona stress me out if he comes round, plus he'll wana get on it n there's no way im doin that n listenin to him bang on for 6hours

Did you drink any sugar drink like cola and eat some chocolate? After it was done? Usually fixes that as its shock from the piercing.
