DJs and their phones
I see this all of the time on GetDarker,
what are they doing with their phones all the time? noting the tracklist or what?

Re: DJs and their phones
tbh i think its because its a way to occupy themselves so they dont feel socially awkward during a tune. tbh i'd probs do this...

I usually just do a little moving to the beat and cueing/mixing.goodeh wrote:tbh i think its because its a way to occupy themselves so they dont feel socially awkward during a tune. tbh i'd probs do this...

Even DJs doing it - FUCKING LOL! Y'all snobby about "real vinyl sets" etc - but you'll stand there "uncomfortable" playing with a fucking tiny phone that can do your entire DJ career for you. Sort it out

Re: DJs and their phones
Do they often let tunes ride out longer than a couple of minutes? I can see standing there for 4 minutes waiting to play the next track would be kind of weird outside of a club haha. Should just be incentive to try some new mixing styles, tease tunes, double drop etc.AxeD wrote:I usually just do a little moving to the beat and cueing/mixing.goodeh wrote:tbh i think its because its a way to occupy themselves so they dont feel socially awkward during a tune. tbh i'd probs do this...

This. I find a lot of the Get Darker sets quite dull TBH. 4min boring dungeon rollout, 32 bar blend, repeat. At least The Aliens tried something different with theirs.

Re: DJs and their phones
One tweet or status before you go on - fair enough - but not during your set. Even though GDTV don't pay it's still rude/unprofessional IMO.
Radio's not the same as playing a club but if I'm not sweating during a club set I feel like the audience has been short-changed. No need to sweat for a radio/GDTV set but messing around on your phone during your set is whack...these days people fanny around on their phone instead of twiddling their thumbs, and I certainly wouldn't stand there twiddling my thumbs while I'm meant to be entertaining people. Jeeeeeez
