Re: Attack Magazine: Sub Bass Lines Tutorial
Yeah that's really helpful.
I would actually like to see a more advanced, in depth look a creating sub bass, as it is something i have struggled with at times. Things such as fitting sub into a mix properly, and how to layer non sub bass with sub bass without losing power, that kind of thing.

To be honest that was a bit disappointing. Despite it probably really helpful for newcomers to sub-bass, i was expecting something more in-depth.. Although i cant really see a sine wave getting very complicated haha
Re: Attack Magazine: Sub Bass Lines Tutorial
Ive been told, you can just use the bottom note of your chords...then stick a nice bass on it with rhythm and then high cut everything above 90 hz.
Is this true will it work?

Is it just my impression or everyone recommends sinewaves for sub-bass but when a lot of people begin getting more in-depth knowledge actually start using filtered squares for added body (for example)?

It depends on the context, and whether you want the added body i suppose.bkwsk wrote:Is it just my impression or everyone recommends sinewaves for sub-bass but when a lot of people begin getting more in-depth knowledge actually start using filtered squares for added body (for example)?
Re: Attack Magazine: Sub Bass Lines Tutorial
Sub bass is the easiest thing out there. If you're expecting more from it, it most likely means you're over thinking it.
Sub bass = low... but really low. To get a big sub, mix down your tune well. If you want to layer something over that sub bass.... then just do it like you would layer ANYTHING ELSE in that tune. That 'layer' isn't some magical entity you have to somehow treat differently, it's just a different part of the tune.

I usually just add a low pass filter controlled with dynamics to add the big low end but whatever works I guess
