JASON HOWSON:

A true stalwart and influential figure within the Dubstep circles of New Zealand, Jason Howson is the man behind Beat Merchants, New Zealand's longest lasting dubstep monthly "Wheel" and has co-hosted Silk-cuts in Session on George FM for ten years. Adding to this, he has supported Benga, Caspa, Coki, Distance, Joker & Mala, and has appeared on Get Darker TV over in the UK. This Ritual we have invited Jay to showcase some of the records he considers influential in the growth of a genre that has become recognised more for it's modern rave sound over it's true roots. Expect classic 2-step, garage and grime that will get the memories flowing!

STEEZIE WONDER (FLEX):

With over 15 years experience DJing and producing Steezie Wonder aka Flex is no stranger to bass music. Genres aside Steezie has always strived to stay on the cusp of cutting edge bass music. He has a very basic philosophy on music which is "who cares what people call it, at the end of the day good music is good music". Steezie recently attained a long term goal which was to cut his music to dubplate, this was made possible with help from long time collaborator Pylonz (In Real Life). This new dubplate artillery will be showcased alongside some of Steezie's favorite new and old 'bass heavy' records for his set at Ritual. You can check Flex's sounds here.

INSOMNIAC:locally

After many days and nights behind the decks, Insomniac brings an experience of sound to the table. A unique up bringing has seen him through 15 years in the mix, and with a dedicated approach to the underground, he plans on keeping the vibe alive, deep into the future. 100% bought, he plays from a vinyl collection mustered up through hours of digging the treasures at local record stores. Often picking up 2nd hand plates that had been discarded by other DJ’s, as well as inheriting records from the strangest of places.

“With these records there is a story, a history at play. When spun, the story unravels.”

For Ritual 012 expect a bass music show - spanning roots, and future dub as heard from New Zealand!
