Do Free Eps Help You?
Do Free Eps Help You?
Does releasing a free ep help you get out there? Or help you in general?

Some people argue the whole "it devalues your music" but fuck that. If your music is good people will be willing to pay for your new £ released stuff even though you have a free EP out.

Also, this is why its good to have a bandcamp.... if people want to pay for it, they can.

Would I get signed before releasing my imaginary free ep?

don't worry about getting signed, just make tunes. if you are a producer that does not djs or rarely plays out, just make tracks and handle them to a few trustful djs, keep bringing some fresh material and eventually you will get a label deal. do what you can to push your sound, collab with blogs, write articles, send dubs, put old tunes and tunes in a different style or that simply aren't good enough for a comercial release for free on your soundcloud, make free eps, you know, make music.

Cause honestly it is not about the money right now I just want to make sure when I am ready that my tunes will be heard.Hircine wrote:don't worry about getting signed, just make tunes. if you are a producer that does not djs or rarely plays out, just make tracks and handle them to a few trustful djs, keep bringing some fresh material and eventually you will get a label deal. do what you can to push your sound, collab with blogs, write articles, send dubs, put old tunes and tunes in a different style or that simply aren't good enough for a comercial release for free on your soundcloud, make free eps, you know, make music.
