Parallel Desktop + Windows on Mac

Post by hifi » Mon Oct 01, 2012 9:44 am

i need to open some .exe file on my mac so I went ahead and downloaded the trial version of parallel desktop and it gave me the option of choosing which os i wanted to use so i chose windows 8 (which was the first out of just a few options) and all in all it took 4 hours to get everything running just to do such a simple task. i remember downloading PD a while back/one of the earlier versions and it rann incredibly smooth, with windows 8 my entire computer is going reallly really slow, i can't even really see what i am typing right now. any other " operating systems " out there that I could download that take up waaaaay less cpu and gigs off my hd? im down to 59gb on my macbook .. i m not sure how this hwole thing works but i remember it asking that i could open up some .dmg or .iso file or something im not sure i just want like windows 1 or something that will run on my comp as smoothly as having another tab open in my browser.. pls help

Windows XP is probably the lightest option to run with Parallel.
You get XP performance version which is heavily stripped down to just the essential elements.

I just thought I'd add Wine and Crossover as viable wrappers rather than parallel desktop.

WINE is free whereas crossover has a free trial.

use wine it is very easy to use and it work with a lot of exe files
It's about dropping a track at the wrong speed, and it sounding better than the real thing.
