Considering Wenger plays him wide that looks like a good enough return that I wouldn't want to lose the player.jazzamataz wrote:10 goals, 12 assists IIRC.scspkr99 wrote:Did Walcott not get into double figures for both goals and assists last season?

You might well be seeing a lot more of him next seasonscspkr99 wrote:Considering Wenger plays him wide that looks like a good enough return that I wouldn't want to lose the player.jazzamataz wrote:10 goals, 12 assists IIRC.scspkr99 wrote:Did Walcott not get into double figures for both goals and assists last season?

Re: The SNH Football thread
See I wondered about that when there was talk about him moving this summer. I don't pay enough attention to games that don't involve Liverpool to have much of an informed opinion about him but his numbers looks good and we need players that know where the goal is.
I'm still expecting him to sign a new deal for you tbh

The reason he's on the bench is because he's refusing to
sign a new contract. He states it's down to wanting the
role up front and that it's not about money. I have my
suspicions on that.
IF it is RE: the role up front, he should know that he's not
going to do better in the middle than he is on the side.
He states he wants to emulate Henry, but Henry would
often drag wide then run in from the left to continue his
on run to goal. He's already in the prime position to do that.
He prefers to run in a straight line/into defenders, but he
doesn't have the skills to beat his man. The only way he can
is generally with his pace, so he needs to be playing off the
shoulder - however, he's not skilled enough to do that either.
He has a propensity to run to the line and cross it in like a
typical winger, but he doesn't try and beat his man like Oxo
does, which is something Henry, Pires and Ljungberg could
do repeatedly.
We operate an inverse 4-3-3, and we have done for a while.
Last season RvP was the big man/false 9 that would hold the
ball for supporting attackers to make their run-ons if he wasn't
looking to attack the ball himself.
The only difference between RvP and Giroud atm is that Giroud
has not found his scoring feet. There is no way that all 5'10 of
Walcott is good enough to be a target man, and as I said, he
doesn't have the ability to beat his man off the shoulder like
David Villa does (for example). He knows what it means in terms
of money and fame to be Henry, but if he doesn't even have the
tactical nous to understand that he IS already in the Henry role
and needs to adapt his game (which I doubt he has the ability to
do) in order to exploit it - he will continue to fail succeeding at
Arsenal. This is why Oxo and even Gervinho are being preferred
to Walcott at the moment.
Wenger and Bould aren't going to fire up the DeLorean to 2006 and
change the system back to a 4-4-2/4-5-1 just for Walcott.

This kinda thing is unbelievable, same with the Suarez incident. If the FA issued a directive to refs telling them to book (at very least) anyone who CLEARLY dives, every time, then I reckon you could have rid of the worst of it within a season.southstar wrote:

Thought diving was already an automatic booking? Never enforced obviously.isiahfire wrote:This kinda thing is unbelievable, same with the Suarez incident. I would go further, but I'm really going off football at the moment, too much cheating, and when players do get touched, they spend hours rolling around the floor, absolute pussies, my patience for it is really wearing thin. Basically a money competition.
Re: The SNH Football thread
This is the worst part of it, worse than the cheating. Chelsea will probably win the league this season and City will go out and spend another £100m to win it next year, I don't see how its even an achievment for those clubs. And i'm not just being bitter because Arsenal don't compete anymoregarethom wrote: Basically a money competition.

Re: The SNH Football thread
Just really going off it big time, basically, the only way to compete now is just to get taken over by someone stupidly rich who wants your club as a play thing, and then you may as well just do away with the football and just follow the Forbes Rich List.southstar wrote:This is the worst part of it, worse than the cheating. Absolutely no parity, and it's too far gone to ever change it. I'm not all about only supporting the team that are gonna win all the time (I support Birmingham ffs), but to know that your team have no chance of winning the league in your life time unless they get taken over by aforementioned stupid rich fucker, it all becomes a bit pointless.

There not though are they? Who's embarrassed?
Re: The SNH Football thread
It embarassed me when Song used to roll around holding his leg every time he was tackled

Re: The SNH Football thread
Then don't be.
I'd rather it didn't happen but we have a situation where if forwards only ever go down when fouled assuming they don't get all of them then defenders are the only winners. It's shit because we refuse to accept technology but I'd be happy to call Suarez out if he got the penalties he should. The ones against Manchester United and Norwich especially are nailed on and he doesn't get them. You can't really blame him for trying to get those he has no right to.
And Norwich's and Manchester United's can't be put down to his reputation unless the referee is incompetent.

Re: The SNH Football thread
embarrassing for the club, let alone the player after they see the replay.
i know if that was an arsenal head i'd be ashamed too. walcott dived last year and held his hands up to it straight after the game. s'not the arsenal way. that said, jenkinson last week...

Re: The SNH Football thread
I don't think mutimillion dollar companies get embarrassed when someone dives
Re: The SNH Football thread
And that is the most embarrassing thing about it. I'd be so fucking embarrassed to be seen doing that in front of millions of people around the world.scspkr99 wrote:I don't think mutimillion dollar companies get embarrassed when someone dives
