An elderly couple have unwittingly grown the "biggest cannabis plant" police officers had seen after buying what they thought was an innocuous shrub from a car boot sale.

The couple, who live in Bedford, had planted the drug in their garden.

Police officers were astounded when they spotted the plant. They have collected it and a spokesperson said it would be disposed of.

The couple will face no action from the police.

The officers took to their @bedfordlpt Twitter account to express their surprise at the find, saying: "Seized today. Elderly couple bought shrub at car boot sale, tended carefully - biggest cannabis plant we had seen!!"

real talk my friend's grandma was given a plant after church one day to plant in her yard

but some trickster gave her a ganja plant, & it was growing right out their yard in the same exact way, and the thing was about as big

so his dad & my aunt went & took it out before the police noticed, covered it in the pickup w/ a big tarp.... and then hid it in a shed lololol

It was probably a male plant, won't be smelly and won't produce any THC so basically a bit useless to your average homegrower.

Makes for a lovely bit of shrubbery though!

Males can stink to high heaven.
You guys should see ducks foot from an Australian breeder called Waddy duck if I remember correct.
The leaves look like ducks feet.
Do a search for it.
It looks nothing like cannabis.
Until it flowers that is.

Then there's also Lowrider that stays shorter than .5m and autoflowers in any light conditions.
It too can be quite easy to miss due to it's size.
