I hate pc gaming, so much simpler to just buy a console and know you'll be able to play any game over the next 6 years or whatever

I still love pc hands down.
Upgraded at Christmas time and I can't see myself having to upgrade again for years.
Everything just runs so supremely well.

Imo games like Crysis or any other FPS game, mouse is the only way for me.

I managed to replace the video card following the instructions in the manual but how long before the intel? starts holding it back? iI wouldn't have the first clue how to replace something like that, would mean buying another £800 computer

I built a desktop machine 4 years ago that still runs everything. Cost me €800.
Only 2gb ram, but XP doesn't need that much. Best games are still on pc imo.

My parents use it to check their e-mail now

I dont know how to get the proper specs up,

Looking at control panel, intel core i7, memory is 16gb, radeon hd 7870,
Someone raplced the power supply for me, i doubt that affects gaming.

WTF?? you have an i7 with 16gb and you're worried about your specs.
Radeon HD 7870 seems to get good ratings as well.
Surely you're being a joker.

I have an i5 with 8gb ram and a Geforce GTX 550 TI.
It handles everything superbly.
Everything at max settings on highest res.

I use an xbox 360 controller for other games.
No issue.
But I still stick to pc.

Maybe its better than i realised then, my point was more about in a few years time when it cant handle new games, i cant be bothered to spend that kind of money again

You'll be set for quite a few years with that system.
Consider that the current batch of games on PC are very graphic heavy.
