Idk I just find that his music is simple yet complex, and that's what appeals to meidontreallygiveashit wrote:It has not much to do with the music itself, it's the way people talk about it on the internet, it's just tunes, people acting like burial literally wanks them off through every track, extreme hyperbole.

why? do I have to give in depth review of what burial's music invokes in me? (although I'm almost positive that I've done that multiple times before)
I was kind of just saying that as a joke dfd because your post was so analytical and intricatebut your last post about burial being overrated if everyone just liked his tunes doesnt really make sense
Evokes.

No sorry i missed your post. I can see your explanation explaining a lot of cases but not all of them. It's those that i genuinely don't understand.constrobuz wrote:did i... get gay about?idontreallygiveashit wrote:Well could someone explain why people think he's the greatest thing to ever happen to sound, and try not to get gay about it.dubfordessert wrote:if just "liking the tunes" was all there is to appreciating burial then he really IS overrated.

I think Burial's tunes had good atmosphere, percussion and sound. Don't like the last EP though.

i was just saying why i think sonika's response is inappropriateidontreallygiveashit wrote:Well could someone explain why people think he's the greatest thing to ever happen to sound, and try not to get gay about it.dubfordessert wrote:if just "liking the tunes" was all there is to appreciating burial then he really IS overrated.
i'm not too worried about avoiding gayness but then i also don't think he's the greatest thing to ever happen. i DO think it's about the uniqueness of his style and the kind of sounds that he uses and the fact that the effectiveness of his tunes is in their imperfections, the manually put together percussion (although i find a lot of his percussion sounds really fucking annoying), the way he treats vocals (although again some of his vocals are very, very miss, like that christina aguilera sample in ghost hardware), etc. obviously with any tunes that want to evoke an emotional state it's going to touch some people deeply while leaving others cold, humans are individual like that, but when someone's music does have a near-universality like that it's got to be acknowledged as an achievement.
i could go on but basically burial isn't perfect but he is INTERESTING, which is what makes it worthwhile to discuss him in more depth than "i like the tunes"
kindred was the last EP wasn't it? i rather liked it.
