Funky WIP (Short clip but I could really use some help)

Theres the short clip. I am a new producer (or new to producing) and I've got this short started, I really like the swing vibe going on but fill the space/add variety. Also, I was thinking maybe vocal samples to add some spice but I'm really not sure. Anyone else have ideas where this track is heading? Thanks in advance

EDIT: Here's a new version with punchier drums and a better mix (as well as some vocal samples). Let me know what you think ;D
I think i might add a pad in now that theres more room.

-------------Let me know what you think i should use to fill all that empty space, I'm not exactly sure what to do because my melody is all mainly short notes, but if I add some long chords in you loose the feel, I'm kind of noob when it comes to this so it'd be really helpful if someone could point me in the right direction ----------------------

To start.. I really like the feel of this track. The tune reminds me of an old school video game, and I like it

The main thing to start with (In my opinion) would be to work on your drums some more. They need a little more punch. As for a direction of the song, you could do a lot of things with this.. I'd say maybe work on a drop or some other part of the song and piece them together. Everyone does things a little different. I'm pretty new to producing myself so...

This is pretty cool man! I agree with NeuroM on the drums. I feel this track taking a sort of Bax - Mosca (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoAi_xY0taU) direction, around 0.57 in the link.

Not vibing the melody sounds on this, but yeah agree with the comments re; drums...bit on the flat side and could do with a pick up.

Yeah I'm working on that, the sound i'm using isn't my favorite but i couldn't make a better one so... :p

I think this would be a killer track with more acoustic sounding drum samples & more melodic stuff going on in the background.
A little more reverb on certain elements wouldnt hurt either

But hey, thats my opinion and Im no expert

I think its a great track for a new producer, it sounds great!
