Radio Slots and building relationships with producers
So I've got a slot on my uni radio station, nothing huge just an hour long fortnightly show. But obviously I would like to stay quite relevant and not just play the same old tunes every time. Now i'm alright with just buying all the new releases I like on mondays, but being a student this isn't viable in the long run, so I was wondering if anyone has any tips for building relationships with producers to the point where you can get promo tunes from them. I've already tried straight up asking people like South London Ordnance etc but they very politely declined.

Maybe once you've done a couple of shows you'll have something to show producers that might make them more willing to give you tunes?

i'm sure less well known people on here/on soundcloud/your mates will be happy to give you tunes to play, also play free downloads, promote your radio show and the people you're playing to get listeners in and then see if you can attract bigger people. not that i'm speaking from experience here but that's what i'd do, ya dont really need big names to have an interesting or fun show

This, dig out some good producers that need exposure and ask them if you can rep their tunes in your show, it's a win-win situation.dubfordessert wrote:i'm sure less well known people on here/on soundcloud/your mates will be happy to give you tunes to play, also play free downloads, promote your radio show and the people you're playing to get listeners in and then see if you can attract bigger people. not that i'm speaking from experience here but that's what i'd do, ya dont really need big names to have an interesting or fun show

University Of Liverpool radio or www.lsradio.co.uk to be more precise, fortnightly at 2pm on wednesdays is my slot, not ideal for playing UK Bass but it get's the job done. Next show is on halloween
p.s I'd love to play some of your tunes, tricolor is a banger
