The term inflammable is much older, and refers to property which could cause something to become inflamed, i.e. alight.dj slums wrote:why the fuck do inflammable and flammable mean the same thing? i know its a classic but it remains unanswered.
However, the term flammable has been brought into use more recently - often for use in warning signs - where it was feared that the latin prefix in- would be mistaken for the modern English negative prefixes non-/un-, thus suggesting that the substance was non-combustable.
Both are now in common usage.

Sorry, that wasn't a question for you. I was attempting to answer this one:gravious wrote:This is not even a question. At least the last question - whilst nonsensical - was in the correct grammatical form.ana wrote:Bonzi Buddy?

Although I admit my knowledge of human anatomy is limited, a quick scan through my library suggest that the terms seem to be used interchangeably in many cases.The Wiggle Baron wrote:Okay, genuinely need to know the answer to this one gravious and I cant find anything ANYWHERE.
What the hell is the antecubital fossa?!! (Is it any different to the cubital fossa?!!!!)
We could also look from a linguistic point of view:
Cubital = relating to the Forearm/Elbow,
Fossa = Depression,Indentation (usually in bone),
Ante = Preceding, Before
Therefore, the wording of Antecubital Fossa suggests that it is the depressed area before the elbow/forearm. Despite the additional prefix, this sounds similar in meaning to cubital fossa.

When music stimulates you on an emotional level, the release of chemicals into the brain triggers a response from the hypothalamus. This area of the brain controls various functions including the tightening of the skin that causes 'goose bumps'.The Wiggle Baron wrote:And another question.

It is not fully understood why such physical reactions occur from emotional responses. One theory is that it is the result of an evolutionary trait encouraging closeness in family units, causing them to desire warmth/physical-proximity when hearing an emotive sound (e.g. the fearful cry of their young).

Ahhhhh, the common Woodlouse. Usually they are drawn to dark, damp and warm places. Therefore, they usually evade the view of humans. However, overturn some large rocks in your garden, and your are likely to find some. The intrepid few that make it into the human domain will probably return to such pplaces, if they escape with their lives.ana wrote:gravious wrote:Please elaborate on the nature of "roly polys".ana wrote:Where do roly polys go?
