Recommendations/suggestions thread?!
Hey guys, I'm new here and I'm looking for some new electronic music to listen to! For the most part, I listen to progressive metal / djent such as Meshuggah, Katatonia, TesseracT, Periphery, Opeth, etc., you get the idea... What I like to hear in music is a lot of different layers and textures. With that said, I'm also a big fan of melody and polyrhythms. I was wondering if there is a type of dubstep / electronic that utilizes these elements in music (there HAS to be, right?!). A couple electronic artists I've heard (that are not dubstep at all) that I do enjoy are Solar Fields and Tycho.
On a semi-related note, the reason I came here to begin with is because I was at a local indie rock show the other night and in between the bands' sets, they played a dubstep song that I actually liked. It was structured like a typical indie rock song and had indie rock style female vocals. I wish I knew more, like a line of lyrics or something, but alas, I was too stoned to pay attention that well (didn't want to be there at all, was there to support a friend's band). If it helps at all, some "indie rock" bands I enjoy are Metric, Modest Mouse, The Naked and Famous, Cat Power, Kimbra, Regina Spektor, etc.
Anyhow, thanks in advance for your help - can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

Re: Recommendations/suggestions thread?!
Post a song showing what you mean by dubstep, and I might be able to help.

To be honest, I'm totally new to dubstep, but I know for a fact that there's some out there that I would enjoy. I really dig the heaviness / brutality of the 'drops'.

Re: Recommendations/suggestions thread?!
So I Google'd UKF Forums and didn't find anything. I did read on a forum called IDM that UKF was closed due to spam/otherwise. Am I just not looking in the right place? Also, can I get a brief explanation as to how I'm in the wrong place for electronic music suggestions? Do you guys not listen to electronic?SCope13 wrote:Yeah you're on the wrong forum, buddy. Re: Recommendations/suggestions thread?!
Erm, we do. That would be why it's called dubstepforum. Just not at all the kind of "dubstep" that you're looking for.

Re: Recommendations/suggestions thread?!
Look, I'm not into the kind of shit you're looking for. Neither are the majority of people on this board. Sorry.

Sure, but I don't see a forum?

Don't see why you need a forum. I'm sure there's plenty of the music you're looking for on there.MassiveCollapse wrote:Sure, but I don't see a forum?

Hey way to be appreciative. I said you weren't going to find much help around here. Nev didn't have to find the site for you. I think you need to learn how to use google properly.

Re: Recommendations/suggestions thread?!
good luck finding pretty much ANY dance music using weird time signatures since it's mostly very DJ-oriented type of music and made for people to dance to
some "wonky" stuff is the closest u get but i don't think it's very much up your alley. some juke / footwork drum programming is also pretty "all over the place"
