Sound samples - Death

Post by 7 below » Mon Oct 31, 2005 12:49 pm

Bit random but I'm after some spoken word - something about death, in particular suicide.

Does anyone know any old films with particularly sampleable samples? Most interested in something related to Samurai ritual suicide but I don't know my samurai films really...

Any ideas?

the "expiry" scene in bladerunner when rutger hauer croaks is pretty good for mortality quotes too... although there's a lot of rain in that scene....

good suggestion, although bladerunner has been totally rinsed..

I was thinking more along the lines of obscure samurai movies...

Anyone have any webspace? Dubway could start customising this place a bit more then...

Ghost Dog has some brilliant sampleable samuari cod quotoes all the way through.

Countless old dubbed films, the dubbed version of Seven Samurai is a must, Shaolin VS Lama, for some classic snappy WuTang samples. WuTang Sword and Shaolin vs Wutang and Iron Monkey Returns (The sequel to the old one, not the the new): all have some wondeful dialog concerning ninjas, samurai and utter loyalty and obedience. Along with some of the most ridiculous sound effects and voices you could ever want :P

If you need to borrow I have all these and mor on dvd mang :D

Yo - a few things come to mind...

If I recall, theres a reasonable chunk of dialogue about samurai honour and ritual suicide (sepuku) in the film Ronin. Bit of a cheesy film otherewise, but ace car chases! Also got to love DeNiros pathetic attempts to say 'Hereford'.

For some general random samurai bits, check out Ghost Dog. This is also a pretty cool film, although slightly style over substance at ponts.

For some old school japanese stuff, maybe check out Akira Kurusawa's shit, like Seven Samurai.

Hope thats some use to you. Even if you don't find samples, some of these films are worth watching anyways!

----Just previewed this and its full of fucking adverts! What a bunch of see you next tuesdays!

"Anyone in the advertising or marketing business - kill yourself"

"- What did you do today honey?"
"uh, we made arsenic a baby food now. We figured we could run with 'is your child too loud'? night night - ZZZzzzzzzz"
(Long live the GoatBoy!)
