Ableton Producing No Sound

Post by officialragingturtle » Wed Oct 31, 2012 2:54 am

I switched to Ableton today after watching some tutorials on it and there's some particular features that I really like.

For some reason after I take a midi from session view to arrangement view I'm not getting any sound.

Yes I'v un-checked the "back to arrangment bar" and I've also tweaked many other different settings, clicking and unclicking the blue mic bubbles on different things, restarting the program and starting new projects etc... but I can never get a sound to play in arrangement view.

The volume control to the right moves up and down to signify that I should be hearing something, but I still don't.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I've been searching online for the past hour to with no luck.

Thanks,
Scott

i use ableton frequently. is your MIDI keyboard turned on? its the button on the top right that looks like a few piano keys. Are you selecting which track you want to play in? have you set the track as recordable by going into session veiw and clicking the red dot (third button down next to your musics sound)

also you can go to classic view (tab into this) and select your track, and where it says all ins, change that to Computer keyboard. Also you might have to turn on your MIDIs go to preferences (help-preferences) and then go to MIDI, then choose the top one all the way on the right and select the drop down menu, and select the MIDI choice :P if none of those work, somethings wrong with your comp dude

also ableton runs fine on my crap computer, and dude, stick with it...once you get it to work ITS BEAST
I run Ableton 8.3 LEGIT
and Massive by Native Instruments on a Toshiba with 2 ghz 3 GB Ram and 300 Gigs of space ;)

I've gone through everything you listed and still can't get it to work. The weird thing is though I can get sound when I'm playing in session view, so I'm assuming it's not the computer.

When I export the track, which is just a couple bars of bass, snare and hi-hat... I get no sound either when I try to play it in my music player.
