Sounds absolutely nothing like Burial. Just sounds like Garage.

Thought I'd give this a bump - looking for some new beats...

Anybody recommend any artists making tunes similar to Hackman - Close, As in the garage drums, deep bass, vocal samples, etc.... but not too Wideboys-ish?

Sounds soooo much like burial

Great production - interested to see when this guy branches away from burialism.

edit:

Just realised he sampled 'one wish' by Ray-j for this /\ same tune as burial did for archangel, not sure if that annoys me or not.

Volor Flex has been discussed a few times here. He did say it was a Burial tribute (even to the point of doing covers).
His EP on Apollo is really good; not a fan of the rest though.

If you're annoyed at people sampling One Wish, I advise you don't listen to any electronic music from between 2007 and the present day.

Missed that discussion. Fair enough.

Not really as there is no real reason to get annoyed, just a bit weird because it was sampled in such a similar way.

I really need to tell myself to stop making garage and move on haha, that swing is just an infection though. Once you learn how to do it theres no going back. I jus kinda hate the "future garage" scene, 80% Burial rippers imo...
Dungeon scene is 80% Kryptic Minds rippers.
Bro scene is 80% Skrillex rippers.
"Bass" scene is 80% Ramadanman rippers.

Find me a scene that isn't 80% rippers. Just gotta look for the best. Saying that though, sometimes the rippers make sick music. Volor Flex's album was quality. :U:
*Taking the time to read through this thread from the start.

Imitation is the fundamental doctrine of artistic creativity according to which the creative process should be based on the close imitation of the masterpieces of the preceding authors.

/\ I kinda agree with this, and i think stylistic imitators are 'better' than those ripping off other peoples original ideas. Most Interesting things happen because someones failed in trying to copy someone else and accidentally stumbled upon something new.
