the DUI laws are fantastic.

If you had legalized marijuana and one family of four got killed by some stoner without laws on the book it would take no time flat for them to outlaw all marijuana, medical included.

having tough laws prevents that from being an argument.... family of four dies, laws tougher than alcohol already on the books.

Not just fucking snow either - mammoth Rocky Mountain blizzards that seem biblical in scale sometimes. And I'm from Chicago, so I know about some blizzards. :corntard:

In fact, Denver weather seems designed to kill the foolhardy. I was there in August a couple years ago and the temperatures were consistently hovering at 90*F/33*C with high humidity - so I put on some shorts and a tee shirt, go outside - a fucking hailstorm starts out of nowhere pelting me with gumball-sized chunks of ice. WHAT THE FUCK, DENVER WEATHER?! WHAT THE FUCK?!?!

stoners don't really drive fucked up tho. i go the speed limit in the slow lane. all i'm saying is that they need to do a scientific study before they make laws like this.

I'd have to blaze a full joint about 5 minutes before getting in the car for it to affect my driving. I would actually have to make a genuine effort to make it a problem for myself :cornlol:

right, they just need to get a legal limit down. 5 micrograms per liter is nothing, if i smoke a joint today I still have 5 micrograms in my blood tomorrow. how is that "fantastic", pkay, and how does that make sense to you? you usually seem pretty logical so your statement through me for a loop.

you know they're distinguishing between "active blood thc levels" and "levels of blood thc metabolites above testing threshold", right?

everything that i'm reading indicates that the test would only be for active thc in the bloodstream - still not flawless but it's not like they're using the same drug tests for DUI that they use to drug test for jobs. although a level of 0.0 ng/ml for everyone under 21 is unfair to say the least.

the problem is that it is very easy to confuse the metabolites from active THC and inactive THC from simple NMR tests etc....
And I'm not gonna get into how shitty and unreliable roadside drug tests are.

you're right, although early trials have been pretty specific, they were done in controlled and sterile labs and not with whatever roadside litmus paper they're going to give police forces in WA. plus an active thc test still sets a 4+ hour window of having to wait before you can drive.

aside from all that though... honestly, if it's obvious enough that you're stoned and driving to the point that you get pulled over and the cop is like "yeah this person is blitzed", you should get drug tested and charged with a DUI. anyone who can "handle their shit" has nothing to worry about because it will appear to the outside observer that they are driving safer than the average person on the road (right?)

i've never had a cop bust out a breathalyzer on me for no reason, i doubt they'll whip the needle out on everyone either. if they do and it gets abused, laws can always be changed. i bet they'll switch to cutaneous cheek cell tests before long.

the law can not be changed or amended for two years. after that it needs 2/3 majority

i guess we'll have to count on the kindness of cops at this point. city cops will be no prob, but country cops with quotas to fill.... here's hoping
