Let the music speak for itself. If you like it, you like it. If you don't, you don't. Who cares who's behind it?

Leave it at that; move on.

with both oscarluweez being "wack" and that being the thing with a lot of music these days.
The vast majority of music I hear these days from hyped producers out of the UK is petty mediocre ,it seems like there is a rush to find the next big thing/person , but no one seems to really stand out , the last producer I can think of out of the UK that really shook things up was Joy O , ATM it seems more a case of "well djx is playing it and it was released on label Y so it must be great" , it's not.

Thoughts on Gerry Read? Him, Joy O and Blawan have probably been the 3 most exciting producers for me recently.

I like Gerry Read's music a lot
jamesyo wrote: there s a bunch of dudes really that tend to get overshadowed by these more hype/less substance types
Yes this is very true

The thing is if you're listening to house/techno for long enough a lot of what these hyped new artists are doing isn't new or original , but if you're just getting into the whole thing via the 'bass music' then a lot of people and even people who write for blogs /magazines think "djX is playing it and it was released on label Y so it must be great"

I'm not directing my comments at anyone in particular(names mentioned in this thread) , but they are more of a general observation of what's going on regarding hype etc ATM.

yeah ive been digging for heaps of the older early 90s house and stuff lately, and it seems like its all been done already, and better, albiet this is with the "uk bass" influence. all i can say is that i wont be listening to this song in 3 months so it cant be that good. also i dont know who the dream (not the rnb singer? haha) is so that doesnt really matter to me. ill be very happy when this wave of like dubstep producers and whatnot get over trying to produce house and stop diluting the pool and go back to what they are best at.

timeless music that might take a while to grow an audience > the new hot shit

Edit2: Also what's with the "20 year old" bullshit? Are you even active in this scene? There are tons of young guns that have lots of justified hype around them (see: Paleman, Happa). The difference is they respect and understand the history & context of the music around them while this kid is literally some fucker who jumped into the scene to try and ride its popularity and get famous (the same reason he probably started making brostep). Do you think this Route 69 kid knows anything about the evolution of garage / dubstep? Do you think he even cares? Of course not. All he cares about is filling stadiums and getting a paycheck. Mark my words, the fact that these kind of people are starting to get into the scene, means its starting to die. It happened with dubstep, it will happen here.
CRINGE.

ACTRESS - http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=263052 (I don't mean to spam, or derail thread)..

Route94 seems to be smashing it for people into that vibe so all good innit. Actress is on a completely different tip so why compare?

Didn't intend to derail either, just wanted to mention Actress as a guy who genuinely stands out in a sea of samey, generic producers.
